It is expected that the candidate will develop a clinical research program in an area of their interest. Fellowship training in non-malignant hematology is required. Areas of academic interest that fit particularly well with current goals include, but are not limited to, thrombosis and malignancy, bleeding and thrombosis in women, congenital bleeding disorders, platelet disorders, and immune-mediated hematologic disorders. Interdisciplinary research that leverages the breadth and strength of UCSF is encouraged. Applicants who have been successful in obtaining peer-reviewed funding are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates must be ABIM eligible or certified in Hematology.

The faculty member will be expected to participate in the teaching and training of Hematology and Oncology fellows, residents, and medical students as well as contribute to the division's annual scientific conference. The Division of Hematology and Oncology has a large fellowship program with a strong record of training fellows who have gone on to full-time academic positions as well as leadership positions in biotechnology companies. Clinical activities will include attending on the hematology consultation service and in our outpatient non-malignant hematology clinic. Clinical opportunities are also available in our federally funded Hemophilia Treatment Center.
