General Description of Position:

The Executive Director for the “Lilly Scholars Program” at Ivy Tech Community College will be responsible for successfully leading the implementation of all facets of the agreement between Eli Lilly & Company (Lilly) and Ivy Tech Community College (Ivy Tech). This agreement between Eli Lilly and Ivy Tech was created in response to the need for a robust pipeline of qualified workers who will advance pharmaceutical manufacturing in Indiana.

The primary focus of the five-year agreement is the creation of a merit-based scholarship program primarily supporting first generation students and students who have overcome socioeconomic barriers who are pursuing credentials in quality, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or related industries in high school or while enrolled at Ivy Tech. In addition to receiving tuition and wrap around assistance, Lilly Scholars will also have experiential learning opportunities that include summer programs and/or work-based learning programs. Also under this agreement, Lilly plans to underwrite and co-brand a world-class training lab facility to allow Ivy Tech Indianapolis to offer smart manufacturing certifications and 2-year degree options.

The Executive Director will oversee the implementation of the scope of work outlined in the agreement between Eli Lilly and Ivy Tech Community College under a shared governance structure between the two organizations. The position is responsible for the implementation of project deliverables, reporting, financial management and overall metrics.

The Executive Director will supervise a dedicated K12 College Connection Coach and support participating campus faculty and Career Link staff in achieving the goals outlined in the agreement. The Executive Director will report to the Vice President of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering and Applied Sciences.

This is a grant-funded, full-time position. There is no guarantee for continued employment beyond the five-year grant period which ends on May 30, 2028.

Major Responsibilities:

Plan and facilitate, in collaboration with the Lilly Project Director, Ivy Tech and Lilly’s Joint Steering Committee to ensure input from stakeholders is heard and taken into consideration with a focus toward program growth and sustainability.

Plan and direct systems office and campus-based workstreams designed to implement all grant activities, metrics, and initiatives, as described by Ivy Tech and Lilly.

Oversee equipment purchases and program assets at Lilly’s training center, MQLC, K12 sites and at the chosen smart manufacturing lab site.

Develop and maintain positive relationships with Eli Lilly, Systems Office, and participating campuses to meet all expectations outlined in the agreement.

Create and maintain an overall project timeline to ensure deliverables are met in accordance with the expectations outlined in the agreement.

Create and submit programmatic and financial reports as required by the grant agreement. Provide clear, consistent communication on a frequent basis with Ivy Tech staff and faculty and Lilly designees about the progress of the funded initiatives.

Manage reporting requirements as outlined in the scope of work and all associated metrics, including data required from the college and partner organizations.

Evaluate and assess program quality and success on an ongoing basis.

Prepare and maintain materials for potential program evaluations.

Manage the budget, including spending, projections, leveraged resources, and allowable cost activities to implement the project scope of work aligned with Ivy Tech’s mission and the mission outlined by Lilly.

Meet regularly with the College’s Sponsored Programs department and Vice President of AMEAS to ensure a financial spend that is in line with project timeline and metrics.

Manage internal or external marketing campaigns and strategy designed to recruit talent to biopharmaceutical and smart manufacturing careers.

Participate in meetings to support Lilly’s new biopharmaceutical training center(s) to be located at 16 Tech Innovation District, Indianapolis and the LEAP Innovation District, Lebanon, Indiana.

Travel to meetings with external and internal partners as appropriate.
