Scope of the role We’re looking to recruit a driven and enthusiastic Finance Director to head up our finance team. As a coach and mentor to the finance team, you will manage delivery of financial reporting and compliance deadlines. You will support the company through the future growth strategy, providing strategic analysis, financial leadership, and guidance to our managers and the leadership team while driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will develop and manage the financial plans and forecasts while monitoring, analysing, and presenting monthly financial reports and key financial metrics.
You will identify and implement cost savings and efficiency / profitability and cashflow improvement opportunities, you will develop and maintain financial reporting tools and systems around profitability and cash flow information to be delivered timely and accurately to the leadership team and meet all compliance reporting.
By collaborating with our cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and sales, you will ensure accurate inventory and production reporting, drive finance process improvement and business excellence initiatives, and provide financial guidance and support for business decisions.
Main duties and responsibilities The below list is not exhaustive, but the main duties and responsibilities will be:
Ownership and development of the finance function, processes, and team, including consolidated accounts, compliance reporting, management reporting, tax and audit, and financial planning and analysis.
Development of annual financial planning, financial targets, and budgets in line with board strategy.
Lead the successful delivery of the company’s strategic and operational financial objectives to optimise performance.
Reporting on effective KPIs, to ensure timely and accurate visibility of performance against the annual operating plan and previous year.
Continuous improvements of robust internal controls and processes in line with system functionality and developments
Responsible for cash management, including preparation of forecasts.
Management of audit and statutory obligations and completion of all statutory reporting within set guidelines.
Working with all heads of departments to drive performance against sales and expenditure budgets.
Liaise with the leadership team to help drive growth and provide high level financial direction for sales and operational teams.
Provide ad-hoc analysis to support business decisions.
Identifying and communicating business risks and wider group business opportunities
Supporting organisation in all financial matters, contributing to maximising cash and profitability
Management of external finance stakeholders and third parties
Key part of any due diligence / M&A activity as and when required.
Ensure compliance to industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Knowledge, skills, and behaviours Degree in accounting or related field or qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CA) with significant PQE with experience managing a finance team (essential)
Experience of reporting to GAAP and IFRS Standards (essential)
Strong people management skills and a driven, dynamic approach (essential)
Strong analytical abilities (essential)
Proficient in MS Excel and other financial software (essential)
A keen eye for detail is paramount, as is a commercial acumen that extends beyond finance (essential)
Proactive with an analytical mind and the ability to think strategically and solve problems (essential)
Experience in a manufacturing sector (desirable)
Experience with consolidated accounts (essential)
Experience of significant business growth (essential)
Experience of M&A would be a distinct advantage (essential)
Role details and benefits Working hours are Monday to Thursday 08:30-17:00 and Friday 08:30-14:00 (37.5 hours per week)
