Job Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Database Developer to design, develop, document, implement, and maintain database solutions in support of web applications, with a primary focus on Oracle database applications, batch processing, and reporting. The successful candidate will ensure the optimal performance of existing applications and develop solutions for new requests, providing impact analyses for any database changes. This role also includes maintaining database code versions using GIT and participating in the complete system development lifecycle, including post-implementation support.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning:
Collaborate with business units to identify and document business requirements.
Determine technical requirements and analyze all aspects of projects.
Provide feasibility studies and cost/benefit analyses for proposed projects.
Plan, organize tasks, and coordinate with additional development teams.
Identify and implement internal process improvements such as automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and redesigning infrastructure for scalability.
Development & Deployment: Execute complex programming assignments using established standards and best practices.
Design application and database components for development projects.
Analyze business models and customer requirements to design and build internet solutions using various technologies.
Author advanced SQL queries and work with relational databases.
Mitigate significant risks in projects with high technical complexity.
Guide full-stack developers on design approaches and teach them to create performant queries.
Operational Management: Maintain and update applications, including documentation and coding changes.
Provide support for critical application problems and issues.
Analyze and improve SQL query performance.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in the investigation of critical production problems.
Proactively enhance non-performant database programs.
Coordinate the efforts of other developers as needed.
Incidental Functions: Research modern technologies, tools, components, and frameworks.
Train and share knowledge with development teams.
Mentor and coach developers and apprentices.
Manage and report on projects and tasks.
Make presentations to management, clients, and peer groups.
Lead project and communication meetings.
Provide tier 2 on-call support for critical application problems.
Analyze program performance and make necessary corrections.
Assist with efficiency and effectiveness projects.
Attend management meetings on behalf of the team.
Perform application server maintenance tasks such as upgrades, patching, security configuration, batch process maintenance, and platform migration.
Address Sarbanes-Oxley compliance audit concerns.
Occasionally work outside standard office hours and provide on-call availability.
Qualifications:
Education & Certification: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Knowledge & Experience: 5+ years of IT experience.
5+ years of experience developing OLTP database applications in Oracle 10g/11g in a UNIX/LINUX/Solaris environment within a multi-tier setup.
Proficiency in PL/SQL Types, Collections, SQL Loader, Functions and Procedures, Packages, Materialized views, Triggers, Complex SQLs, and SQL Reports.
Experience with PL/SQL techniques in LOBs, Multilingual character conversion, Oracle RAC clusters, and Exadata systems.
Familiarity with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, data transformation, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
Experience in building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
