Registered Nurse (RN)We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Stepdown unit. This nursing position involves a night shift and offers the opportunity to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.Unit InformationUnit Type: StepdownNumber of Beds: 22Nurse-Patient Ratio: 1:4Common Diagnoses: Heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, strokeAdditional Support: Nurse aides/patient care techs available with a ratio of 1:10Shift DetailsShift Length: 12 hoursGuaranteed Hours: 36 hours per weekShift Times: 18:30 - 07:00Weekend Requirement: Every other weekendHoliday Requirement: 1 major holiday, 1 minor holidayRole ResponsibilitiesProvide clinical care to patients in a Stepdown unit setting.Administer medications and manage IVs, including titration of drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin.Cluster patient monitoring – read and interpret telemetry strips.Work collaboratively with a charge nurse who also takes a full patient assignment.Assist with CPAP therapy as needed.May be required to float to the ICU if appropriately experienced.QualificationsYears of Experience: 2 years requiredRequired Certifications:BLS CertificationACLS CertificationNIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)Orientation and TrainingNew hires will be required to complete a 12-hour department-specific orientation, including a pass/fail exam on skills learned during the orientation. A score of 90% is required to successfully complete the exam.Additional NotesThis unit is characterized by a fast-paced environment with frequent admits and discharges. Ideal candidates will possess a positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care.Professional PoliciesArtificial nails are prohibited in patient care departments; refusal to comply will result in termination.A driver's license is required for verification of residency outside a 50-mile radius.
