We are looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer to join Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team in leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Our mission is to build the data platform for the age of AI, powering a new class of data-first applications and driving a data culture.

​​Within Azure Data, the business intelligence team builds and maintains Power BI which is the undisputed leader in BI tool in the industry today and serves as the bridge between data professionals & Office users. Power BI’s core value proposition is to enable end users to get answers & insights from their data through data visualization.​

**Responsibilities**

+ Own experiences that span across desktop client, web client and server-side components

+ Deliver world-class user experiences and planet-scale cloud services to customers in collaboration with architects, UX designers, and product managers

+ Architect, design, code, test, and develop features with good quality, maintainability, and end to end ownership

+ Own the end-to-end life cycle of your features, from inception to managing it live on production

+ Maintain customer focus, considering current and future needs when designing and implementing features

+ Collaborate effectively within the team and with partner teams across Microsoft

+ Promote engineering excellence and best practices within the team, ensuring quality and continuous improvement​

**Qualifications**

**Required** **/Minimum** **Qualifications:**

+ ​​ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

+ OR equivalent experience.

+ 3+ years' experience in designing and developing internet-scale distributed systems and services

+ 2+ years' experience in Web Development including Angular, React, TypeScript

**Other Requirements:**

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

+ This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

**Preferred/Additional Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

+ OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

+ OR equivalent experience

+ 4+ years of experience with Power BI or other BI/analytic tools.

+ 2+ years of experience with Power BI or other BI/analytic tools.

+ A self-starting problem-solver who thrives on resolving complex challenges through independent research and agile experimentation. Result-driven, with experience collaborating within and across teams to plan for - and timely execute on - objectives.

+ Proficient communication skills, including the ability to write concise and accurate technical documentation, communicate technical ideas to non-technical audiences, and to lead development teams.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
