This position reports directly to the Director of Student Services.
Applicants must apply online and have the following qualifications:
Hold a registered, valid Illinois LBS I / Professional Educator License.
LBS II/Technology Specialist, preferred and/or Illinois license in Speech Language Pathology preferred.
Knowledge and experience in working with Assistive Technology with learners receiving special education service
Ability to coach and train on the integration of assistive technologies in the classroom.
Must possess an in-depth knowledge of computer instructional applications and curriculum development (including specialized software).
Knowledge and experience in accommodations and modifications to access specialized instruction and general education.
Skilled in providing effective consultation to classroom personnel.
Excellent communication skills in written reports, informational documents, announcements, correspondence, and verbal presentation, including the ability to read, write and interpret related documents.
Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administration, staff, parents, and the public.
A minimum of 3 years school experience, which includes the use of various assistive technologies.
Key Functions: AT Coordinator AAC Responsibilities - Prospective Students: Collaborate with educational team to trial aac / Assessing the needs (meet with SLP and teacher, observe the student, write up a report / evaluation), Providing training and support: The coordinator assists educators, students, and families in understanding how to use assistive technology tools effectively. This includes providing training sessions, creating resources, and offering ongoing support to ensure successful implementation. Collaborating with school staff: The coordinator works closely with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to integrate assistive technology into the curriculum and classroom activities. They may provide guidance on how to customize instruction and accommodations to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Support devices as needed (secure, set up, create and back up vocabularies as needed, purchase straps and/or cases initially).. Establish and continue open communication between all out of district programs.
AT Coordinator AT Responsibilities: Assessing the needs of students with disabilities (students with dyslexia or other significant needs), Providing training and support to staff and students, Collaborating with school staff to help implement more AT to whole class, Selecting and implementing assistive technology tools for students and programs (all of middle school uses read and write, maybe life skills should have something etc), Monitoring student progress: The coordinator should be tracking progress of students using assistive technology and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
Work Year : Part-time (10 hours a week during the school year),
Hourly rate dependent on experience
