Portfolio Management Lead

Our Client was founded in 2012 as a non-profit organization to improve the health of people around the world by accelerating and enhancing the research and development of innovative new therapies. Their mission is to collaborate across the global biopharmaceutical research and development community to identify, prioritize, design and facilitate implementation of solutions designed to drive the efficient, effective and high quality delivery of new medicines.

The Portfolio Management Lead is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the Digital Data Flow (DDF) program. As the accountable Leader for the DDF program, this person will also work closely with other members on the Leadership Team to define and manage interdependencies with other ongoing projects in the current portfolio. He or she will work closely with the management team to define short-terms goals and set the path for long-term for the DDF program. The leader will also work jointly with Leadership Team to define overall portfolio roadmap to amplify strategic impact. This leader will bring broad, creative perspectives and infuse them into our ongoing operational activities and long-terms plans for the organization. This leader will have direct interaction with senior leaders from 20 member companies, including the Company's Board of Directors and Integrated Leadership Team.

This position will serve as part of the Company's leadership team, leveraging his/her deep R&D experience in ongoing interactions with governance bodies (Clinical Oversight Committee, Pharmacovigilance Steering Committee, and Board of Directors). This position will also have direct engagement with a variety of global stakeholders including Technology Council, Regulatory Council, and leaders from key external global stakeholder groups.

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Planning

Develop multi-year execution roadmap for Digital Data Flow program, including defining appropriate stage gates and opportunities to partner with external entities

Work closely with management team to define long-term sustainability plan for DDF

Work closely with Leadership Team to define integrated 3 year portfolio roadmap

Program Delivery

Accountable and responsible for delivery of all aspects of Digital Data Flow program

Responsible for ensuring appropriate governance model and processes are in place to support ongoing program delivery

Managing and leading the resources working across the DDF program, both internal employees and member company leaders

Build and maintain trust-based relationships with external vendors and industry groups to support delivery of program goals and objectives

Plan and manage program budget and resourcing needs, partnering closely with Finance function and Leadership Team as appropriate

Plan and execute change management and communication activities necessary to support implementation of program outputs, partnering with Communications function as appropriate

Serve as escalation point for the program working teams and conduit to the internal management team and Board of Directors as appropriate

External Stakeholder Relationship Management

Build relationships with external industry groups and vendor community

Represent company at key global engagement meetings, including regulators and industry groups

Explore/build targeted relationships with key industry groups to further drive engagement impact

Identify potential external industry groups with whom to collaborate to achieve desired outcomes for globalization of our solutions

Create and maintain a stakeholder relationship management plan to facilitate ongoing engagement across various regions

Function as one of the company's external ambassador, building and managing relationships with external groups

Other Activities

Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Engagement with management, Board of Directors, and Member Company senior leaders as necessary.

Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic priorities.

Represent company in external forums, as necessary.

Assist Leadership and Management in the training, mentoring, and career development of other

staff.

Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary as business dictates.

Job Requirements

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree

A minimum of 12-15 years’ industry experience with a strong emphasis in R&D.

Knowledgeable in clinical operation processes and technology solutions

Experienced in portfolio management, budgeting, resourcing management

Experienced in complex, large program delivery involving IT solutions

Experienced in establishing and managing effective governance model for complex, multi-stakeholder program

Brings trust-based relationships with technology vendors in the clinical and R&D space

Experienced in commercial construct, business development planning discussions and execution

Experienced in long-term business model design for technology solutions (funding, operations, governance, etc.)

Experienced in building and managing alignment in multi-stakeholder environment

Knowledgeable of key industry stakeholder groups in the clinical domain. Having prior relationships with leadership from CDISC, HL7, etc. a bonus

Demonstrates impactful executive gravitas in settings such as formal Board meetings, contract negotiations, and large multi-stakeholder meetings

Must have a strong understanding of drug development, the nature of the industry challenges being addressed by the company, and applicable global nuances

Must demonstrate the ability to deal with complexity and adapt to changing work priorities with the ability to exercise sound judgment

Must demonstrate proactive building of relationships with external stakeholders, successfully discussing relevant subject matter in collaboration with stakeholders to achieve high-impact, mutually beneficial outcomes.

Must demonstrate experience and leadership in managing a comprehensive strategy and program spanning multiple business priorities and stakeholders.

Must have exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with officers and leadership.

Must maintain a strong knowledge of Member Companies’ diverse mandates, strategic priorities, capabilities, and socio-economic and cultural contexts and Member needs in order to best identify and offer a solid value proposition.

Impeccable managerial and interpersonal skills

Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments

Effective, versatile, and action oriented

Experience with budget management

Experience with portfolio management

Carries high diplomacy, service oriented approach in interpersonal interactions
