Your Career

Palo Alto Networks DNS Security team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to help us build out our DNS Security capability on the cloud. You will participate in all phases of the product development lifecycle from definition, and design, through implementation and testing. Work closely with security researchers, and product managers on new feature requests, QA and DevOps on testing and deployment plans, and other engineering teams on all kinds of collaboration.

We expect office-based employees to be in the office 3 days per week. We believe being together facilitates casual conversations and those magic moments where we can work on issues and ideas informally. These moments build capability and deepen trusted relationships and allow our people to feel safe in taking risks and being disruptive. Like so many companies, we are working through the details and things could change …. but in general if a role is deemed office-based we want our teams to be together three days per week.

Your Experience

5+ years of solid CS fundamentals, as well as networking knowledge

3+ years of experience designing and/or implementing massive scalable distributed systems

3+ years of expert-level programming experience in GoLang and Python

3+ years of experience with any public cloud platform, GCP preferred

Experience with data processing frameworks such as Spark, Apache Beam, BigQuery, Dataflow

Experience with SQL and No-SQL DB technologies such as MySQL, Redis, HBbase/Bigtable, Spanner

Communicate at a high level and work well with multi-functional teams towards achieving a common goal

High energy and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Solid foundation in design, data structures, and algorithms, and strong analytical and debugging skills

BS/MS in Computer Science / Software Engineering or equivalent military experience required

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $170000/yr to $275000/yr.
