Assistant Vice President - Accounting

The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) has a new opportunity for an AVP - Accounting in our Accounting/Finance Department. This position will manage all accounting and related functions for NAMIC, its subsidiaries NSC/NIA, and affiliated entities as required.
Essential functions of the position include:
Accounting: Manages (plan, organize, direct) all regular accounting activities of NAMIC and affiliated entities including supervision of mid-level department personnel to ensure accurate and timely performance of accounting/finance functions.
Treasury: Assists VP-Accounting/Finance with treasury functions including cash management and coordinates investment policy implementation for NAMIC and affiliated entities and manages bank relationships and accounts for NAMIC and affiliated entities.
Internal Control: Oversees internal control system and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, or good business practice.
Budget: Assists VP-Accounting/Finance with annual budget process for NAMIC/affiliates, including review/reports of budgets with managers for completeness, justification, and accuracy.
Reporting/Disclosure: Supports VP-Accounting/Finance with compiling financial reporting/disclosure (external, management, Audit/Finance/Risk Committee and Board) to include scheduling, presentation of information, and obtaining appropriate approvals/decisions.
Tax: Manages tax planning, compliance, reporting, and investigation for NAMIC and affiliated entities.
Audit: Manages independent audit process for NAMIC and affiliated entities as required.
Billing: Oversees billing for NAMIC dues, Trusts and all other external for programs and related affiliates invoicing. Also handles all collection responsibilities.
Compliance: Assists VP-Accounting/Finance with internal financial compliance systems for NAMIC, NAMIC PAC, payroll, and benefit trust programs as well as federal and state lobbying.
Related Duties: Continually educates self on accounting and administration practices and issues; provides recommendations for improvements in efficiency and effectiveness; performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
Qualifications include:
Proficient use word processing/spreadsheets, and PC-based accounting software.
Accounting degree or equivalent work experience demonstrating strong understanding of statement analysis, account budgeting, and forecasting (minimum 6 years of experience).
Treasury function management experience or knowledge.
Previous supervisory experience.
Membership in CPA Society, Indiana CPA Society, and/or ISAE preferred.
CPA, CMA, CAE certifications desirable, but not required.
Ability to successfully pass a criminal background and MVR check.
