Head of Quality

Strategic Talent Partners has been retained by our client, a family-owned converter of paper and paperboard, to hire a Head of Quality. Our client is renowned for their commitment to extreme customer satisfaction and produces a wide range of paper and paperboard products used by the brands you know and love for products you see and use daily: cosmetics, personal care, beverages, food, technology, entertainment, etc.
The Head of Quality will report to the VP of Supply Chain and directly enhance quality and delivery across multiple facilities. This role is responsible for managing and improving all components of our Quality Management Process providing regulatory and compliance oversight and expertise to ensure compliance with industry specifications, standards, regulations, and laws.
This role is a hybrid positions, working onsite 2-3 days a week at the Philadelphia, PA facility.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Deliver the vision and maintenance of the Quality Management Process
Lead internal quality audits and external supplier audits, driving full resolution of audit findings
Lead inspection process, both internal and external, to include process development and execution
Develop supplier scorecards and present them to all Tier 1 suppliers during quarterly reviews
Serve as highest functional escalation point for supplier quality concerns
Track customer complaints and ensure prompt and appropriate responses
Design and continuously improve statistical quality systems to ensure manufacturing is completed within defined targets
Develop and implement QC and QA processes and procedures within the facilities
Contribute to continuous improvement activities
Conduct and Implement work plans, systems, processes and policies designed to ensure compliance with all licensures, insurance, accreditation and certification agencies, federal, and state regulations and laws
Develop and execute employee training on compliance policies, practices, and reporting systems
Identify, investigate, and report compliance issues, irregularities, and violations.
Maintain records of compliance activities; prepare and file compliance reports
Review product artwork: ensure all product claims, warning and usage meet all regulations/packaging/labeling/label laws
Maintain regulatory documentation such as product specifications, Certificates of Analysis, manufacturing information, and other product labeling
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or (business, supply chain management, industrial/mechanical engineering, statistics/mathematics, etc.) -OR- if you have commensurate work experience in related discipline(s) and/or relevant certifications (ISO, ASQ, LSS, etc.).
5+ years of relevant work experience in a highly regulated industry (automotive, medical device, pharmaceuticals, or food)
Firm understanding of LEAN methodologies and continuous improvement
Expertise working with various QA software, automation tools and applications
Background implementing QA systems within manufacturing environments
Current knowledge of global regulatory standards, registration requirements and approval processes
Exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships and work collaboratively, internally and externally
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, attention to detail, strong sense of integrity, and drive for results.
Excellent verbal and written communication with strong documenting and reporting skills
