Data Quality Developer

Irving, TX, United States

The Data Quality Developer (Data Quality Sr. Analyst) helps to ensure data sourced and provisioned by different areas, meets all required Data Quality standards.  In this role, moderately complex and variable issues are evaluated with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. The Data Quality Developer assesses, evaluates, and analyzes data challenges and provide recommendations on their resolution.  They collaborate with an array of teams and groups, developing subject matter expertise and knowledge of industry practices and standards.

Responsibilities:

Partners with Enterprise Chief Data Office to contribute to the development of procedure guidelines and standards addressing Data Certification and Data Quality management

Develop methods to identify data patterns and trends in available data sources, perform data quality analytics and identify data challenges

Contribute to Data Quality resolution strategies and practices

Assist in data improvement initiatives in compliance with Citi Data Governance Policy

Assists in the remediation of Audit and Regulatory feedback on issues and concerns

Report Data Quality issues through Citi’s corresponding Data/Issue management process, and/or Coordinate efforts for Data consumption demand and Data requirement from strategic data repositories

Liaise with other areas of the firm to understand data challenges and solutions. Supports identification of data quality rules, thresholds, and other business requirements

Perform financial reconciliation, and measure Data Quality to drive data quality resolution

Define and formulate business requirements documents that contribute to resolve Data Quality issues

Lead project management activities

Support senior management strategic vision

Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable rules, laws, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgement regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating managing and reporting control issues with transparency

Additional Responsibilities:

Code, development, and enhance SQL Queries

Release the SQL to UAT testing and Prod; Job scheduling and running.

Adhoc python script creation

Host meetings and present technology demos

Discovery of new technical challenges that can be solved with existing and emerging Big Data hardware and software solutions

Assist and support analyst team on technical solutions

Understands the SQLs syntax/functions across different analytic engine/platform, responsible to convert Starburst/impala SQL to SparkSQL by referring spark documents and provide optimal query

Works with team members to ensure efforts within owned tracks of work will meet their needs

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience working with Starbust/TRINO, Impala, Hive, SparkSQL; Banking or Finance industry preferred

Strong data analysis, data evaluation, problem solving skills

Good knowledge with Hadoop environment and distribution system

Experience with coding in Python, Pyspark

Identify and troubleshoot data issues and provide timely resolution

Domain knowledge of data quality/data entitlement is a plus

Strong project management skills

Optimizes work processes by knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement

Proficient in using data management and analysis tools including basic Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Working knowledge of Collibra and other Data Governance industry standard tools

Proficiency in System Query Language (SQL) and debugging is crucial

Working knowledge of Tableau (report consumer, developer, etc.)

Demonstrated understanding of Database structures

Proven ability to provide in-depth and sophisticated analysis with interpretive thinking to define problems and develop innovative solutions

Anticipates and balances the needs of multiple stakeholders, while monitoring tight deadlines or unexpected requirement changes

Communicates effectively in non-technical terms at all levels of the organization

Collaborates effectively by building partnerships and working well with others to meet shared objectives

Agile experience

Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience
