Job Description Job Description The Community Service Society (CSS) seeks a dynamic, mission-driven, experienced professional to provide enrollment, scheduling, and administrative services for the Health Initiatives Department. The Community Service Society (CSS) is an independent, not-for-profit organization that has been at the forefront of public policy innovations that support low-income New Yorkers for more than 175 years. CSS runs several statewide programs that help consumers find and enroll in health coverage under the Affordable Care Act. It also runs Community Health Advocates (CHA), a statewide health consumer assistance program offering health insurance assistance through a toll-free central hotline and a network of specialist agencies and community-based organizations (CBOs) which can help consumers and small businesses in the communities where they live and work. These services are free for New York healthcare consumers and small businesses.
CSS is hiring four Health Insurance Enrollers to join the CSS statewide Facilitated Enrollment Program for the Aged Blind Disabled (FE-ABD) program. The CSS FE-ABD program works with 24 Community Based Organizations, serving all 62 counties throughout New York State. The Health Insurance Enrollers will help consumers enroll in health insurance coverage through the New York City Human Resources Administration, other Local Social Services Districts, and eventually, the New York State of Health Marketplace. They will also assist Medicaid beneficiaries who are potentially eligible to enroll in Medicare. Health insurance enrollers will advise consumers about health insurance options, help schedule enrollment programs, and help support a live-answer helpline.
Job Description:
Respond to live helpline calls from consumers with enrollment issues.
Assist with scheduling consumers for health insurance enrollment appointments.
Provide information and education about insurance enrollment options and assistance to consumers.
Assist individuals with enrolling into Medicaid coverage through NYC Human Resources Administration, other Local Social Services Districts, and, eventually, the NY State of Health Marketplace.
Conduct telephone and written outreach to Medicaid beneficiaries who appear to be eligible for Medicare.
Maintain thorough case records of services provided, advice, and/or referrals offered.
Assist with FE-ABD program outreach development.
Other responsibilities identified by the Supervisor.
Job Requirements:
College degree in public health, social work, public administration is preferred.
Experience assisting consumers and/or advocates on health insurance and healthcare access issues is strongly preferred.
Excellent customer service and telephone communication skills are required.
Fluency in Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Haitian Creole, Russian, or other languages preferred.
Excellent telephone, counseling, and communication skills required.
Ability to write clearly and concisely, and keep detailed notes of all communications.
Salesforce or other database skills are preferred.
Microsoft Office proficient.
Experience working in nonprofit, mission-driven, or public policy agencies is strongly preferred.
Salary and Benefits : This position is union-represented by local 1199 SEIU with an annual salary of $66,218.00 and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage provided by 1199. CSS is currently operating in a hybrid work environment consisting of two days in the office and three days remote.
