CTS Health Services is a community mental health services center that specializes in a holistic approach to health and wellness for children, parents, and adults of varying circumstances and mental challenges. We provide one-on-one behavioral interventions for our clients and their support circles to help our clients navigate through life within their community at their highest level.
A Billing Specialist is responsible for assisting with overseeing the billing process for customers or patients. Their duties include processing payments on behalf of a customer or patient, maintaining organized financial records to aide reporting and calculating bill totals by looking through previous financial statements.
**This individual must live in or around the CHicagoland area due to needing to commute to the office when needed**
The Billing Specialist's responsibilitites consists of, but not limited to:
Coding outpatient medical and behavioral health medical records.
Reconciling insurance claim denials in a timely manner.
Identifies carrier-related denial trends and payment problems that need to be reported to the Finance and Operations Department.
Creates and submits accurate spreadsheets of outstanding accounts receivable to assigned payors and pursues balances owed.
Verifies that the services are correctly authorized and that required documentation is on file prior to billing.
Ensures that all required documentation for billing is completed and accurate prior to claim submission.
Submits timely, accurate invoices to payer for products and services provided.
Submit invoices to patients and recoup any outstanding balances on patient accounts within the proper timeframe.
May assist in training new team members.

Requirements
The ideal Billing Specialist candidate will possess the following:
Currently living in or around the Chicagoland area, required.
Understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding
5+ years experience in Medical Billing, preferably with both physical and mental health
Certification, education, or training in medical billing and coding, preferred
Experience with billing and insurance verfication with Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial payer
Experience with payment posting and end of day reconciliation
Strong computer skills including MS Excel and proficiency working with spreadsheets.
Great organizational, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Self-motivated, work independently with minimal direction.
