Position Summary:

Operation Food Search is looking for a passionate and experienced fundraiser who loves connecting donors to mission and community impact. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Development will play a key role in the annual fundraising efforts. With a particular focus on working with individual donors throughout the giving cycle, the Director of Development will manage a complex direct response and stewardship program and a portfolio of individual donors. The Director of Development will also contribute to endowment and legacy giving efforts. This position will lead and support a strong staff team, including the Special Events Manager, the Volunteer & Food Drive Manager, and the Development Coordinator.

Essential Functions:

Engage a community of supporters who care about solving hunger.

Provide supervisory oversight of special events, volunteers, food drives, donor stewardship, and data integrity.

With the Chief Development Officer, develop fundraising strategy, annual plans, and budgets.

Serve as the primary relationship and project manager for OFS's direct response program, including print and digital.

Identify, cultivate, and solicit new and current major gift donors.

Learn the individual passions and motivations of donors and create a customized, personal approach to every donor interaction.

Approach donor strategy with the longevity of the organization as well as the donor's immediate intent in mind, integrating planned, endowment, and long-term stewardship plans as part of the solicitation and cultivation process.

Record donor interactions, relationships, and other relevant information in Donor Perfect.

Help define and enhance departmental procedures.

Lead donor cultivation and stewardship events as needed.

Participate in endowment and capital campaigns and legacy giving as needed.

Education and/or Experience:

Minimum of a bachelor's degree is required

7-10 years of professional experience in fundraising

2-3 years of supervisory experience

CFRE is a strong plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Passion for OFS's hunger relief mission

Goal focused, energetic professional with a track record of building strong donor relationships

Experience leading a strong, effective staff team

Excellent communication skills and a drive to consistently exceed donor expectations

Strong computer skills with MS Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams

Knowledge of Donor Perfect or other CRM systems

Detail-oriented, organized, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced non-profit environment

Special Requirements:

Occasional travel required for meetings, events, and conferences

Flexibility in working hours for occasional special events after-hours or weekend activities

Willingness to volunteer for other OFS duties that don't fall under regular job duties
