Job Summary
Under general supervision, the incumbent will provide second/third level endpoint support. Core responsibilities include the training and mentorship of junior IT Analysts, offering technical guidance, and delivering informal training to clients utilizing various hardware and software programs. The role extends to aiding in the recruitment, training, and coordination of Student Assistants. Additionally, the position entails recommending and implementing endpoint images, evaluating hardware requirements, and making informed purchase decisions for computer hardware, software, and printers. Proactive in fostering collaborations between faculty, staff, and students, the incumbent conducts research to address their future pedagogical needs. The role also involves serving as a liaison for the Office of Information Technology (OIT). Furthermore, responsibilities encompass assisting with departmental inventory management and facilitating IT procurements. The position demands the provision of regular status reports, problem summaries, and project updates, with specialized expertise as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in UT Mandate Encryption.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for day-to-day operations of Call Center/Testing Center/Learning Space environment.
Maintain computer labs/departmental hardware and software. Diagnose and perform basic to advance repairs of computers, scanners, and printers.
Maintain software security using latest security tools and portals. Handle ITSM logs and resolve hardware/software issues.
Vendor relationships and working with outside contractors for warranty repairs.
Recommend and deploy images.
Provides technical support and guidance through Tier 2-3 support and works with vendors to resolve issues.
Client Relationship:
Serves the role of Technology Advisor in assigned departments.
Interacts with clients to provide professional consultation or on-site training for all aspects of endpoints in the University environment.
Serve the role of a liaison between the Office of Information Technology (OIT), Office of Information Security (ISO), clients, executives, and other IT professionals on campus.
Develops and cultivates key relationships with clients (departments) including executives, senior management, faculty, and staff.
Makes selection recommendations of hardware and software accordingly.
Configures, installs, and maintains new images for endpoints, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and devices.
Configure printers and multifunction devices.
Advanced troubleshooting, analyzing, identify, repair, and restore service of desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile devices as well as software installs.
Resolve security vulnerabilities on university equipment. This includes clients and executives in their assigned areas.
Maintain computer security and encryption for learning spaces and departments.
Utilize server-based computer-management consoles in daily work (Microsoft Intune, FDE console, ISO Bridge, SecureDoc, BOX console, CrashPlan, SCCM, JAMF, Duo, Print Clusters, and Infoblox)
Special Projects:
Trains/mentors Student Assistants and junior IT Analysts – assisting manager with overseeing and coordinating work assignments for subordinate personnel to meet project deadlines.
Provide ongoing mentoring, training, and coaching to junior associates. Uses tools/software like When-to-Work (W2W), TimeClock Plus (TCP), and UTShare for student payroll.
Vendor management: bids for paper, cartridges and lab supplies, furniture etc.
Maintaining labs inventory: Hardware, Software and supply i.e. papers cartridges, sanitizers etc.
Assisting with hardware and software inventory.
Performs other duties assigned including but not limited to assist in training, mentoring, leading Student Assistants.
Creates and updates online documentation for standards, services, processes, and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field with four (4) years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Extensive management skills and computer experience.
Experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department.
Experience with of principles of computing and communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environment.
Experience with installing and configure desktop computer hardware and software.
Experience with installation and configuration of basic data communications and or telecommunications hardware with some supervision with little supervision.
Experience with assimilating, retaining and utilizing technical and applications-oriented information.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent practical experience.
Four (4) or more years of hands-on experience in support of PC and Mac hardware, software, and latest up-to-date OS.
Professional experience in repairing PCs, Macs, Printers, and network connection issues.
Experience with web development tools used to create, maintain, and update websites.
Ability to obtain necessary certifications such as Dell, A+, Apple, HP, and Linux.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of computer software and hardware commonly used in the computer lab including operating systems and troubleshooting/hardware maintenance software.
Ability to be analytical and creative in regards to solving issues or problems.
Ability to train and supervise student employees.
Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing are needed.
Ability to set priorities and moving several tasks forward simultaneously.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Knowledge of UTShare, TimeClock Plus, SecureDoc, Bitlocker, FileVault, SCCM, JAMF, CrashPlan, Box, Print Clusters, and Active Directory.
Knowledge of systems security procedures and protocol.
Knowledge of data protection act, privacy, and PCI compliance.
Ability to troubleshoot issues and to coordinate with other IT functional areas to resolve and manage resolution.
Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.

Must be able to obtain Apple certification within 6 months.
