Arm's Solutions Engineering (SE) Physical IP (PIP) team has an opening for an Advanced Technology DTCO engineer with experience across multiple physical design stages from RTL to Signoff GDS.
In this role you will work on the definition, initial analysis, and bring-up of new foundry process technologies and perform advanced design and development to assess and enable adoption of new technology features. It requires solid circuit and physical design skills in order to assess new process technologies and to understand how these technologies will impact future ARM products. The successful candidate for this role will have had some previous design experience including some interaction with advanced process technology PDK kits. This role will require the ability to synthesize assessments and solutions working with early and possibly incomplete process and design information.
This position will also participate in ARM’s future technology research activities exploring potential future process technology features and their impact. You will have the opportunity to interact with directly physical IP architects, physical design implementation teams, and design architects. Our team has a diverse set of engineers working across five design centers globally, servicing both internal and external partners around the world.
Responsibilities: Participate in the analysis for new foundry technologies and future potential technology features.
Analyze and interpret results of DTCO/STCO studies of future technologies and assess the impact to ARM’s current and future products.
Participate in ARM’s circuit and physical design research activities with our research partners.
Support and teach internal and external partners.
Understand current and future process node technologies, and the impact on block-level physical design.
Understand EDA tools and algorithms for circuit synthesis, physical design, and analysis
Collaborate with EDA on physical design flow improvements.
Collaborate with teams across Arm to perform root-cause analysis of issues and develop innovative solutions.
Required Skills & Experience : A BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or other relevant technical fields.
6+ years of design experience (BSEE) or 4+ years design experience (MSEE)
Design experience with current leading edge technology nodes
Familiarity with layout at the transistor level
Experience with most common EDA tools for circuit design, simulation, and place-and-route tools
Ability to use common scripting languages to create utilities or procedures to adopt existing EDA tools for new features and analysis.
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong leadership skills, be self-motivated, persistent, and resilient with the ability to operate in the face of ambiguity.
“Nice To Have” Skills & Experience : Experience working with leading edge foundry technology or advanced process technology research.
An understanding of semiconductor fabrication technology
