The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Center Director in the overall management of the center, ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all children within the center’s care. This includes managing day-to-day operations of the childcare center, ensuring compliance with State, City, and County licensing standards, and assisting in the development and implementation of programs and curriculum.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

- Assist the Center Director in managing day-to-day operations of the childcare center.

- Participate in staff recruitment, training, and development.

- -Helps welcomeand train new staff

- Conduct tours of MARS ELA, Enrollment process and new family orientation, consult with prospective families to promote the values, culture, and goals of MARS ELA;

- Work with Program Supervisor with any staffing issues, client issues and damaged material ; report to the Director;

- Utilizes information systems tools - Procare Child Care Management System, Teaching Strategies Gold and Creative Curriculum

- Works closely with the Director and Program Supervisor to ensure staff are following company policies and getting annual STARS trainings and ongoing professional development

- Assists the Director with the management of the Early Achievers (EA), DCYF, and CCAP program

- May have responsibilities related to staff management;

- Oversees administrative tasks such as: answering phones, maintaining the company admin email account

- Confirm that all classrooms have a weekly lesson plan and sign off on them

- Work with the Program Supervisor and the teachers on ASQ's and child intervention services

- Work with the Program Supervisor & Early Achievers Coach by identifying teachers that need additional coaching

- Acts as a role model for staff by following and supporting company policies, dressing professionally and/ or wearing company uniform shirt, and be accountable to their work schedule;

- Alongside the Program Supervisor, Manages teachers with TSG requirements; Observations, Lesson plans, ASQ Evaluation

- Maintains a productive, positive, engaging and fun working environment, and openly welcomes employee feedback and ideas. Encourage peer collaborations

- Ensures the company core values are upheld and aligns everything with them: Caring, Community, Inclusion, Quality

- Ensures all families enjoy and appreciate the learning academy's culture, environment, services, and staff

- Supports Parent Policy Committee and family engagement projects/events

- Assists with the ongoing safety and cleanliness of the facility so all interior and exterior maintenance and serve procedures are completed in a timely manner

- Assists with ensuring all operating procedures are followed to maintain standards of cleanliness required.

- Provides back-up in classrooms as necessary (break, planning time, staffing needs).

- Restock of supplies;

- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned;

- Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting; deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrate respect for others;

- ​Cross train on other office duties to provide back up as needed and for future growth;

- ​Knowledge and experience with the basic principles of child development;

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) - Must be at least 18 years of age

-BA degree in ECE or related field

- AA degree​ or at least 45 ECE creditswill be considered with additional experience

- ​ Must meet DCYF licensing requirements as required for an Assistant Director, including the Child Care

Licensing Orientation & Child Care Basics;​

- Attend staff training and meetings, as requested

- ​Must obtain a State Certificate (47 credits) within five years from the date of hire or by August 1, 2026

- Previous experience in a childcare setting is preferred

- ​If the best candidate for the position is not fully qualified, the newly hired staff person will be on a Professional Development Plan (PDP) to fully meet the qualifications of their role within five years from the date of hire.
