A law firm in San Francisco, California, is seeking an experienced Labor and Employment Attorney to provide comprehensive legal counsel to public sector and non-profit employers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in California labor and employment laws, litigation, dispute resolution, and administrative proceedings.
Duties:
Advise public sector and non-profit employers on various personnel and employment matters, ensuring compliance with California labor laws.
Defend lawsuits in state and federal court involving discrimination claims, harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge suits, and other related employment issues.
Participate in labor relations activities, including negotiating labor agreements and representing clients in arbitration proceedings.
Conduct workplace investigations and serve as a neutral, outside investigator when required, handling all aspects from witness interviews to drafting investigation reports.
Assist clients in navigating complex employment laws, contractual obligations, and issues related to COVID-19.
Requirements:
Minimum 2+ years of experience practicing law, preferably with a focus on labor and employment.
Strong litigation experience, including written discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial experience in state and federal court.
Proficient in dispute resolution and negotiating severance agreements.
Familiarity with administrative proceedings before agencies such as PERB, NLRB, EEOC, and DFEH.
Ability to provide counsel on reasonable accommodations, disciplinary matters, and labor relations.
Experience conducting or overseeing workplace investigations is highly desirable.
Public sector labor and employment experience is preferred.
Education and Certifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the California State Bar.
Any relevant certifications or additional education in labor and employment law are advantageous.
