Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Business Development Director . This position located in Washington, DC (Crystal City, VA) .

We are currently seeking an experienced business development leader to contribute to our research and development efforts in national security group supporting DoD, FEDCIV and the IC. You will champion acquisitions related to Research, Development, Testing and Evaluation (RDT&E) funded programs. We are seeking a candidate with a proven track record of client engagement and pipeline development around science and technology programs. A core competency in Logistics Solutions and Armored Platforms is required with an emphasis on materials, chemistry and biology solutions. In addition, the candidate should have experience identifying market targets, experience with the federal budget process, call plan development, account planning, opportunity assessment and qualification, and alignment to internal investment to align with customer markets. The candidate must demonstrate successful performance leading business development and capture to win large DoD/IC/FEDCIV opportunities, while developing an enabling pipeline designed for aggressive growth.

Responsibilities

Developing, maintaining, and growing an extensive opportunity portfolio with both existing and potential Battelle clients.

Developing and maintaining client relationships within Logistics R&D organizations, Service Research Elements and Labs to grow current and future business.

Cultivating new customer relationships with a focus on leading edge technology

Shaping, identifying, capturing, and managing strategic opportunities that support business unit strategies.

Leading sales/business development with responsibility for $100M+ in annual sales.

Identifying and structuring opportunities where client needs can be satisfied by internal research and development investments, thereby allowing Battelle to bring discriminating capabilities or offerings forward.

Providing market and competitor intelligence on market segments where the business unit is engaged, as well as insights on competition specific to individual opportunities.

Supporting and/or leading capture teams to establish overall proposal strategies and themes which clearly differentiate Battelle from other potential providers of service.

Assisting the business unit staff in the efficient and effective use of marketing resources across multiple client organizations to achieve growth and maintain margins.

Building and maintaining a robust pipeline of leads and opportunities capable of meeting or exceeding established business unit order goals.

Up to 50% travel required.

Key Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science-related technical field and 10 years of experience in DoD organizations, federal civil or defense business development or government contracting. A Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred

Existing network of clients and collaborators in the DoD Logistics community and/or Service Research Elements and Labs and the ability to leverage these into qualified business opportunities.

Demonstrated ability to organize and motivate a business development/sales team.

Experience and knowledge of DoD/IC/FEDCIV acquisition procedures and timelines.

Proven track record winning opportunities in with Federal clients.

Competitor knowledge in assigned market space and experience in competitive assessment; experience in developing large government proposals.

Demonstrated ability to deliver technical presentations to internal and external customers and the ability to participate on proposal teams.

Proven track record supporting business development for an organization with over $100M in annual sales

Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret clearance, Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance is preferred
