Operations Applications Manager - ONSITE

Job Summary:

The Operations Applications Manager will be responsible for sourcing, integrating, optimizing, and operating operations software applications and related projects. This role will primarily focus on operations support applications such as Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). This role will also support applications such as job bidding program, BI database integration, telematics, and other operations support programs. Extensive knowledge of API and EDI Software integration is required. A background in Software Applications Training, Process Management and Process Documentation is required. This position will require some travel to US Domestic locations.

This role will engage operations to identify application support needs and expose and certify operations staff on relevant system capabilities. The manager will lead application sourcing, selection, and implementation efforts. Additionally, this manager will conduct analysis to optimize application utility in support of operations and develop ongoing application support programs with vendors.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Lead and manage IT-Application projects for internal and external customers/clients to ensure adherence to project budget, schedule, scope, and deliverables.

Develop, maintain, and revise proposals for projects to include project objectives, business requirements, included technologies, information specifications, timelines, funding, and staffing.

Drive efforts to optimize application utilization through training, modifications, and upgrades of TMS, WMS, and related support applications, for multiple companies we own/support.

Establish vendor management programs that measure application performance, track program costs to budget, and conduct regular vendor partnership reviews to assess system and vendor performance and identify ways to improve system performance in ways that support and improve operational performance.

Establish and track project milestones; working with cross-functional team members manage and adjust to unforeseen issues or delays to maintain schedule and avoid scope changes or cost overruns.

Collaborate with Operations leadership, vendors, and other providers to establish, implement, and maintain an Operations Application Roadmap to coordinate and manage forward-looking plans for implementations, upgrades, modifications, and other changes system functionality, performance, or operations usage.

Collaborate and communicate with customers regarding any capability or system modification, upgrade, or integration requirements.

Collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends to demonstrate system performance in support of Operations.

Perform other technology-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Technology-related project management experience.

Ability to engage and align customer requirements with operational outcomes.

Capable of working with vendors to solve problems and improve operational outcomes.

Occasional travel is required for this position. Average travel is expected to be less than 20%.

Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Thorough knowledge of “Application Programming Interfaces”, including legacy SFTP, EDI, API’s X12, Web-hooks, XML File Structures and REST API programming, Sandbox Testing procedures. Must have experience with Postman or other API software.

Understanding of Database structures and BI tools to produce and maintain KPI’s for the company and customers.

Proficient with, or able to quickly become proficient with, a range of general and specialized applications, software, and hardware used in the organization and the industry.

Ability to maintain technical training programs for clients and customers and monitor use of current and future technologies.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Office365, Azure, AWS and related software platforms.

Ability to motivate groups of people to complete projects in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Hire and train members of the technical support staff and Operations application users.

Assign duties and responsibilities and oversee workflow of project team members.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Information Science-related field or equivalent practical experience required.

At least three years of related experience in the Transportation or Logistics industries required.

Three years minimum of supporting TMS/WMS Software is required.
