Summary This position is located in the Superintendent, Senate Office Buildings; Assistant Tenant Services Division; Wood Crafting Branch. The position is a Wood Crafter (CNC). The incumbent performs duties using Computer Numerical Control technology to create and maintain high-grade wooden items such as furniture, cabinets, and decorative wood work. Responsibilities MAJOR DUTIES: Uses a wide knowledge of wood supplies and precision woodworking methods and their alternatives to plan and lay out their work from specifications, blueprints, rough sketches, and verbal instructions, taking into consideration the tooling, durability, cost, strength, and appearance characteristics of a variety of softwoods, hardwoods, plywood, veneers, and wood substitutes for projects. Participate in pre-construction demolition projects. Selects, cuts, turns, shapes, joins, bonds, fits, assembles, and decorates wooden materials and parts, using the full range of hand and power woodworking tools, machines, and techniques to create superior and structurally reliable woodwork which requires exact fitting and close weight, pressure, and size tolerances to construct specialty furniture. Responsible for building high-grade cabinetry, furniture, woodwork and sculptures via Computer Numerical Control (CNC) to saw and shape. Creates Designs by using Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Technology. Designs plans and specifications utilizing websites, such as Google Sketch-Up to create rare furniture for Congressional Members.
