Role
Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Manager, Real Estate Finance & Accounting will support the Real Estate team and will be a liaison between Real Estate, Accounting and FP&A. Responsibilities will include all financial and investor reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cash management activities. The individual in this role will be required to understand underwriting and strategy and be able to identify risks and issues in new and existing investments.
Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Strategic partner with the real estate leadership team.
Support the strategic initiatives of the real estate team with analysis of any deviation from plan (budget creation/tracking to actuals, monthly reporting package, development status, KPI creation/tracking).
Own the review, commentary, and delivery of the Management Reporting Package ensuring efficient, timely, and accurate delivery.
Manage the preparation of periodic detailed cash management forecasts which incorporate all revenues, expenses, capital expenditures, debt service, financing activities, tax liabilities and member dividends and distributions.
Generate and review financial packages for accuracy and comprehensive reporting.
Respond to and resolve issues and requests from teams regarding various accounting issues and reports, including Profit and Loss statements.
Research open accounting issues and recognizes potential issues and/or conflicts so corrective action can intercept and minimize issues.
Participates in new property acquisition processes.
May oversee the completion of projects including independent preparation and review of CAM reconciliations, purchase/sale proration, lease abstract analysis, property software setups, and opening/closing entry generations.
Assist in the preparation, review, and analysis of project reports to include project and job costing.
Prepare sound analytical reports, ad hoc analysis and present to the executive team.
Provide oversight of accounting prepared by third party managers.
Support Portfolio Managers with supporting schedules on their portfolios. This includes Amortization, FMV, and Fixed Asset Schedules.
Work with others to complete monthly MRI closing procedures.
Lead the development of annual capital and operating budgets.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
10+ years of real estate finance and accounting experience required.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, project cost, and general financial accounting.
Experience handling sources and uses cash flow.
Ability to work independently.
Accountable for setting own work direction towards specific objectives and obtaining satisfactory results.
Proficient in real estate accounting and property management software (MRI preferred).
Proficient in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point. Proficiency with SharePoint.
