See yourself at Twilio

Join the team as our first SVP of Government & Regulatory Affairs.

Who we are

Twilio powers real-time business communications and data solutions that help

build better applications and customer experiences. We're headquartered in San Francisco and support

diversity, equity & inclusion

wherever we do business. We employ thousands of Twilions worldwide, and we're looking for more builders, creators, and visionaries to help fuel our growth momentum.

About the job

As our new SVP of Government & Regulatory Affairs, you will be responsible for consolidating, leading, and continuing to build our existing Global Public Policy and Global Telecommunications teams. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you will oversee our engagement with political leaders and stakeholders, policymakers, regulators, and industry associations. You will be expected to craft and implement effective advocacy strategies for the policy, political, and regulatory realms, harnessing the power of both internal and external resources to ensure that Twilio remains an effective and trusted voice on the issues that affect our business, customers, and employees.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Oversee a global team of government and regulatory professionals engaged in developing and advancing our policy positions;

Lead the creation and execution of effective political and regulatory engagement strategies encompassing a broad range of issues;

Represent Twilio effectively and serve as a thought leader in both internal and external discussions;

Build strong relationships with the executive team and other company leaders, drawing on their perspectives and ensuring that they remain well informed of pertinent political and regulatory developments;

Cultivate and maintain close, trusted relationships with relevant government officials, legislative offices, industry allies, and thought leaders around the world;

Supervise the company’s participation in trade associations and advocacy groups; and

Ensure that Twilio is able to continue to grow and innovate successfully within a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences in other industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. While having “desired” qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!

Required:

Minimum of 15 years of government relations or public affairs experience;

Deep knowledge of substantive policy issues relevant to Twilio, including telecommunications matters, and the procedural mechanics of government;

Strong, pre-existing relationships and credibility with relevant government actors and entities;

Global perspective—familiarity with and sensitivity to how policy issues and advocacy differ across jurisdictions;

Ability to gain buy-in and build trust through effective thought leadership and advocacy, both internally and externally;

Proven experience leading high-performance teams and high-impact projects in the political and regulatory arenas;

Exemplary communication skills, including being an effective public speaker and a good listener; and

Passion and curiosity about technology and a broad range of related policy topics.

Location

This role will be remote and based in the USA.

What We Offer

There are many benefits to working at Twilio, including competitive pay, generous time-off, ample parental and wellness leave, healthcare, a retirement savings program, and much more. Offerings vary by location.

Twilio thinks big. Do you?

We like to solve problems, take initiative, pitch in when needed, and are always up for trying new things. That's why we seek out colleagues who embody our values — something we **** ,000.

Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state. This role is also eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
