Job Summary
Kairos Power is growing its Business Development team and is looking for a Senior Manager/Director to drive the development and management of commercial opportunities with utility customers. The role will report into the VP of Business Development and will work closely with Kairos Power’s Technology, Engineering, Program Management, Finance, Strategy, and other teams to manage and execute business critical partnership and commercial initiatives.
Responsibilities
Develop, manage and execute commercial strategy
Manage commercial relationships; including building and maintaining Kairos Power’s relationships with senior leadership
Manage the development of related collateral, models and frameworks
Prepare and present management updates across various levels of the Kairos Power organization, including the executive leadership team
Collaborate with cross-functional leadership and external stakeholders to develop offerings and related marketing programs. Including identifying and/or evaluating new commercial opportunities
Manage new technology evaluations, long-term planning and related processes with utilities and other commercial targets
Support customers’ engagement with regulatory stakeholders
Structure, contract, negotiate and close commercial agreements. Coordinate closely with internal cross-functional experts and external advisors and counsel to manage deal development, negotiation and execution of legal agreements
Hire, develop, and manage Kairos Power Business Development team as the business requires
Coach and mentor stakeholders outside of the Business Development organization who are collaborating on commercial business initiatives
Other related responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
5+ years of relevant experience with the electric utility sector, preferably with regulated utility experience, including direct exposure to generation planning, procurement and development
Bachelors degree
Master' degree in Business Administration or similar field preferred
Established business development experience, coupled with strong energy market acumen
Demonstrated ability to successfully coordinate and lead complex, cross-functional initiatives across both internal and external teams, managing with both direct authority and indirect influence
Self-motivated and entrepreneurial, able to effectively manage ambiguity, and to independently prioritize work based on business imperatives
Demonstrated history of acting and leading with unwavering professionalism and personal integrity
Experience developing and managing senior client relationships, and serving as a bridge between client counterparts and internal product management and engineering teams
Proficient in structuring, negotiating and closing complex partner and commercial agreements, including working closely with, and managing engagement with legal counsel
Strong financial analysis and modeling capabilities, comfortable designing, building and reviewing advanced models in Excel
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Commercial experience with energy generation, e.g. project development, emerging technology commercialization preferred
Experience working with an early stage, growing company preferred
Ability to work with highly collaborative team
Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues

The salary range for this position is $185,500 to $232,200 for employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters. The range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate of candidates hired in California.
