A law firm is seeking a Special Education Attorney with a focus on advocating for students with disabilities. The ideal candidate will possess 1-3 years of experience as a practicing attorney with familiarity with education law, particularly in the context of special education.
Job Overview: Advocate for students with disabilities to ensure they receive appropriate educational services and accommodations.
Provide legal advice and representation to families navigating the special education process.
Collaborate with school districts, educators, and other professionals to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and ensure compliance with special education laws.
Duties: Represent clients in due process hearings, mediation, and other legal proceedings related to special education disputes.
Conduct legal research and analysis on matters about special education law.
Draft legal documents, including complaints, briefs, and settlement agreements.
Advise clients on their rights and options under federal and state special education laws.
Requirements: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the California State Bar in good standing.
1-3 years of experience practicing law, preferably with a focus on education law or special education.
Familiarity with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other relevant federal and state statutes.
Certifications: Admission to the California State Bar.
