Senior Linux Systems Administrator:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Linux Systems Administrator to join our client's dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, managing, and optimizing our Linux-based systems and servers, ensuring their reliability, performance, and security. This role demands a deep understanding of Linux operating systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
System Administration:
Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and systems.
Manage system performance, tuning, and capacity planning.
Monitor system activity, resource utilization, and network traffic to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Security Management:
Implement and maintain security policies and procedures.
Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Manage firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security infrastructure.
Automation and Scripting:
Develop and maintain scripts for system automation and process improvements.
Utilize tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef for configuration management and automation tasks.
Backup and Recovery:
Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery plans.
Ensure data integrity and availability through regular backups and testing of recovery procedures.
Support and Troubleshooting:
Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for Linux-based systems and applications.
Collaborate with other IT staff to resolve complex issues and improve overall system performance.
Documentation and Compliance:
Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Mentoring and Training:
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior systems administrators and other IT staff.
Conduct training sessions on best practices, new technologies, and system administration techniques.
Required Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 6 years of professional hands on experience as a Linux or similar Systems Administrator
Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, system architecture, and networking.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware, KVM, or Docker.
Understanding of security best practices and tools (SELinux, firewalls, IDS/IPS).
Nice to Have Skills & Experience: Prior Red Hat administration experience is highly preferred.
Proven professional experience as a Senior Systems Administrator or even team lead would be desirable.

Other Information: This position is NOT fully remote.
