The LexisNexis Coplogic Ethos technology team creates next generation law enforcement citation and crash data capture solutions. Our team interacts with law enforcement agencies to solution and create customized capture and workflows on our Ethos platform along with data routing to state and records management systems. Our platform consists of mobile and desktop user interfaces with cloud-based services.
Our team is looking for an experienced software manager to support our customer pipeline by delivering high quality implementations.
This position is highly interactive with our business partners and customers, requires skill in responding to customer inquiries and quotation requests. The position is expected to provide input toward technology trends and best practices for increased quality and efficiency in the technology team.
Preferred candidates will have:
Experience with cloud technologies and providers like AWS
Experience with modern dev practices and technologies such as: micro services, CI/CD, BDD, Terraform, GITHub
Experience managing remote and local staff
A proven record of increased quality and team efficiency
Knowledge of programming/technology focused AI industry trends and tools
Experience working with Police data , NCIC data, ComSys, and RMS providers.
Experience with AWS Gov Cloud and AWS products
The successful candidate will:
Be responsible and provide expertise for assigned efforts.
Lead product development and enhancement efforts.
Provide task and time estimates.
Interact with business partners to define product or enhancements.
Interact with customers on integration, inquiries and support efforts.
Provide leadership, direction, and vision for direct reports (onshore / offshore).
Guide direct reports to identify and grow their talents.
Work with peers and management.
Minor travel possibilities throughout the year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
10+ years of Software Development experience
2+ years of management experience
BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Experience with cloud technologies and providers like AWS.
Experience with modern dev practices and supporting technologies such as CI/CD, BDD, Terraform, GITHub.
Strong proficiency in database technology, design and manipulation, optimization, and best practices.
Expertise in techniques for design and code reviews of offshore technical proposals.
Proven knowledge and experience in project planning and management tools to manage project progress, budget, and scope.
Experience in code reviews and development approaches.
Proven ability to lead test-driven development and maintenance.
Proven ability to adapt to new roles and responsibilities.
Expertise in industry technology language development trends.
Proven expertise and experience applying industry best practices in all aspects of development.
Proven expert in partnering and leading internal and external technology resources in solving complex business needs.
Strong proficiency with data manipulation language including optimization techniques.
Past and/or present development experience using development languages such as: Java/J2EE, JavaScript, JSP, C/C++, HTML, XML, SQL.
Basic Unix/Linux experience and abilities
Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of advanced complexity.
Strong skills in setting, communicating, implementing, and achieving business objectives and goals through the direct management of others.
Strong organization/project planning, time management, and change management skills across multiple functional groups and departments, and strong delegation skills involving prioritizing and reprioritizing projects and managing projects of various size and complexity.
Advanced communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience including senior and executive management, customers, etc., including diction/terminology and presenting information in a concise and effective manner to clients, management, and various departments using assorted communication mediums.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Ensure high degree of quality of deliverables produced by team.
Successfully partner and lead large offshore resources in solving complex business needs.
Perform reviews to ensure enterprise and architectural standards and processes are followed.
Complete management responsibilities to include performance management, hiring and coaching of staff, and resource planning.
Recommend technical strategy and direction across functional area.
Participate in development and evolution of architecture.
Provide design input across a product.
Work directly with customers and end users.
Seek diverse ideas and perspectives from a variety of sources to create better solutions, products, and services.
Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
