Mechanical Design Engineer

This design engineer will own the end-to-end mechanical development of test fixtures for silicon validation, with responsibilities including:
Defining mechanical requirement and interface for fixtures
Brainstorming design concepts and executing design concepts in all phases of a development cycle.
Generating innovative designs with cross-functional teams
Defining mechanical component outlines and assembly schemes
Communicating cross-functionally on design directions and requirements
Generate 3D CAD model of PCB including Keepout, Keepin, Height restriction and perform cross check
Generating dimensional and tolerance analysis
Managing and tracking multiple priorities within schedule requirements
Prototype bring-up, debug and characterization
Participating in the development of new testing processes
Conducting design reviews and driving fabrication
Design validation and characterization from prototype bring-up to product testing
Driving failure analyses and design of experiments (DOEs) to reach design solutions and corrective actions
Key Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have hands-on product design experience in consumer electronic products or modules, direct fixture design experience is highly preferred.
3D CAD experience required, NX preferred.
Experience with ECAD-MCAD data exchange using IDF, IDX required.
Scientific method, experimental process, root cause analysis
Applied knowledge in flex circuits, printed circuit boards, material science and basic chemistry is helpful
Disciplined in GD&T practices with close attention to datum establishment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills; ability to interact with management, team members and external vendors
The candidate must be able to communicate well with cross-functional team members, be able to efficiently collaborate with team members to achieve project goals, and contribute positively to the engineering community
Education & Experience
Minimum requirement of BS + 3 years of relevant proven experience.
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900.00 and $256,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
