Job Summary
The Director of Finance isresponsible for all activities related to budgeting, forecasting, profit andloss reporting, and accountreconciliation for operating and balance sheet accounts for our hotel location. This role directly oversees all accountingactivities related to income auditing, cashiering, accounts payable processing,accounts receivable collection, tax compliance, payroll, and month-endprocessing. This position is a high-profile Executive Committee position.Management-level associates are expected to work as much of each workdayas is necessary to completetheir job responsibilities.
Exempt managers must customarily and regularly direct the work of atleast 3 full-time associates or their equivalents. Primary duties must consist of administrative, executive, or professional tasks more than 50percent of the time, and job duties must also involve the use of discretion andindependent judgement more than 50 percent of the time.
Education & Experience
Possess a 4-year Bachelor€'s Degree in Finance/Accounting and a minimumof 5 years of experience in a financeleadership position or a 5+ year history of progressive career growth in hotelfinance.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, profit and loss reporting, and balancing ledgersfor operating and balance sheet accounts.
Aptitude for performing numerical analysis of data and formulating conclusions and/or solutions.
Ability to use logicto define a problem, collectinformation, establish facts,draw valid conclusions, interpret information anddeal with abstract variables for unique or unfamiliar situations.
Proven leadership and coachingskills with a track record of developing a highly motivated and cross-trainedgroup of progressive accounting professionals.
Ability to clearly and concisely presenttechnical subjects.
Must possess strong oral and writtencommunication skills and the abilityto conduct effective group meetings and presentations.
Ability to comprehend and use technicalor professional language,either written or spoken, to communicate complex ideas.
Superior Computer skills:Microsoft Office, POS/PMSsystems, and the ability to create, maintainand analyze data in Excel spreadsheets.
Ability to work a varied schedule, including days, evenings,weekends, holidays, and extended hours, based on business needs.

Job Duties &Functions
Verifies the accuracy and timeliness of all financefunctions: daily and month-end reporting, payroll processing, income audit, accounts payable, accountsreceivable, and cash and credit card management.
Completes comprehensive month-end close including preparing journal entries and accruals, completing cost of sales entries,reconciling balance sheet accounts, ensuring proper tax reporting, andanalyzing profit performance.
Develop and Achieve FinancialGoals.
Creates the annual operating plan that is aligned with the company€'sstrategic direction.
Provides analytical tools and supportto department heads during budget preparation.
Leads the sales and operations team in creatingaccurate monthly forecaststhat allow the team to reactto changes in business levels.
Implements and upholds businesspractices that positively support the Hotel€'sfocus on having sales driven culture.
Ensures monthlyP&Ls reflect accuraterevenues, expenses, and cost of sales calculations.
Analyzes daily andmonthly variances betweenactual, forecasted, and budgeted performance.
Advises GM and executiveteam on existingand upcoming financialand operational issues.
Analyzes financialdata and operational and market trendsto identify opportunities for improvement.
Leads the property in developing and maintaining a strong labor culture that maximizes productivity performance.
Facilitates monthlyP&L reviews to uncover challenges, opportunities, and trends.
Manages capitalexpense budget and reconciles expenditures monthly.
Ensures strongaccounting and operational controls to safeguard assets and maximizeprofits.
Oversees internalaudit processes.
Manages the accurate collection, posting, and reconciliation of occupancy taxes and sales taxes.
Reconciles balance sheet accountsmonthly and ensurestotals are supportedby appropriate documentation.
Provides continuous direction to and education of the operational team in all areas relatedto finance, financial reports,internal controls, labor management, payroll, month-end reconciliation, P&Lperformance, etc.
Fosters strong professional relationships with the entiremanagement group by providing direct counseland feedback that positively impacts the performance of the business andsharpens the financial acumen of the team.
Conducts ongoingcoaching and annualreviews to influencepositive team development.
Cross-trains team membersto support successful department operations.
Sets high standards for performance and holds the team accountable for results.
Supports and bringsto life the property€'s core values and service culture.
