Job Overview: A law firm specializing in intellectual property seeks a Patent Development and Strategy Attorney to provide expert counsel on patent prosecution, client counseling, and strategic patent portfolio development. The role involves working closely with clients to draft patent applications, conduct freedom-to-operate analyses, and advise on due diligence matters.
Duties:
Communicate verbally and in writing with clients, lawyers, and business professionals.
Produce high-quality deliverables, including patent applications, opinions, and legal briefs.
Respond promptly to client inquiries and correspondence.
Manage and prioritize workload to meet deadlines and client expectations.
Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
Adhere to firm policies and practices, ensuring compliance at all times.
Engage in various activities, including computer-based work, virtual meetings, and physical meetings as necessary.
Perform additional tasks or projects as assigned by senior attorneys or firm management.
Requirements:
Registration with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Minimum 2+ years of experience in patent prosecution.
Familiarity with patent prosecution, client counseling, and drafting patent applications.
Direct experience in a large or mid-sized law firm is preferred.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a team environment.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
Effective research and problem-solving capabilities.
Conceptual thinking and ability to provide strategic legal advice.
Persuasive communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders.
JD degree from an accredited law school.
A background in chemical engineering or chemistry is preferred.
Admission to practice law in California (CA).
Education and Certifications:
