TheOffice of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking an individual to administer a series of gun violence prevention projects focused on developing and delivering curriculum focused on protecting Colorado citizens. The Gun Violence Prevention Project Administrator

will execute the curriculum development and rollout of the extreme risk protection order (ERPO) training program that is funded by two federal Justice Assistance Grants (JAG). The strongest candidates will be those with excellent organizational and project management skills and federal grant experience.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Gun Violence Prevention Project Administrator

(Project Coordinator) will provide day-to-day administration of the ERPO curriculum development and training program that is funded by two federal JAG Grants. This program aims to develop and deliver training to enhance the understanding and utilization of ERPOs, also known as “red flag laws”. There are two main categories of trainings – one focused on law enforcement and one focused on teachers and school administrators. The position will collaborate with the OAG, the Legal Counsel to the Attorney General, Safe2Tell program staff, and the Police Officer Standards Training (POST) team to develop and implement the program and strategic plan.

The position is responsible for:

Collaborating with the Legal Counsel to the Attorney General to develop a strategic plan for the project’s execution

Determining and overseeing processes to ensure deadlines and project deliverables of the strategic plan are being met

Managing and overseeing all compliance duties for the federal JAG grants which fund this position and the ERPO program

Developing a process to ensure that DOL and all program partners are meeting grant requirements

Completing grant reporting requirements accurately and on deadline

Working with the DOL Contracts and Purchasing Unit to identify external vendors as necessary to execute portions of the strategic plan, and determining the necessary scope of work for these external vendors

Creating the project plans with vendors, as well as the systems, structures, processes, and procedures necessary to uphold the highest standards and quality of work from the work of external vendors

Managing the external vendor relationships to ensure they stay on budget and meet protect goals, timelines, and reporting requirements

Working with external stakeholders including the University of Colorado Anschutz Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative, the Office of Gun Violence Prevention, and the Colorado Information and Analysis Center to monitor their projects and ensure the ERPO program administered by the Department of Las (DOL) is consistent with the work of these partners

This is a term-limited position. Funding is expected to be awarded for two years, with the possibility to be extended.

Salary note: Although a salary range is listed, salary will be set commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Salary will be paid on a biweekly basis.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Minimum Qualifications and Substitutions:

Six years of program management experience and/or project management experience either of which that must have included grant administration, and/or grant administration experience

OR

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and two years of program management experience and/or project management experience either of which must have included grant administration, and/or grant administration experience

OR

A master’s degree from an accredited institution and one year of professional experience in program management experience and/or project management experience either of which must have included grant administration, and/or grant administration experience.

OR

A combination of college course work from an accredited institution and professional experience in program management experience and/or project management experience either of which must have included grant administration, and/or grant administration experience

totaling six years of full- time work experience/education.

Strong organizational skills

Excellent attention to detail

High emotional intelligence

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with project management including oversight of and responsibility for project outcomes

Federal grant experience and/or federal grant reporting is highly desirable

Experience with contract management

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with a wide array of stakeholders

Experience in curriculum development
