**Media Engineering**

Media Engineering is an innovative organization that is focused on providing the best possible video playback experience, art, and metadata to customers around the world, powered by exceptional technology. This strategic work requires streamlining and repurposing technology across different business and distribution channels – including streaming, linear, and theatrical – so that technology can ebb and flow across the needs of the business.

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Technology is looking for a **Senior Software Engineer** to join the Media Source Management (MSM) team within the Media Engineering organization. The Media Source Management team’s mission is to build highly available, high throughput services that are critical to delivering quality content to our customers. The team is responsible for implementing backend systems that process and distribute content to Disney’s content catalog, powers media playback, facilitating media selection, device customization, and anti-piracy technologies. **Responsibilities**

+ Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software for Disney Streaming products, which have global scale.

+ Run individual project priorities and deliverables and build quality products.

+ Help grow a culture of collaboration and innovation.

+ Provide on-call rotational support as needed.

+ Mentor or coach team members on technical concepts and principles of software development.

+ Recruit and help hire dedicated software engineers.

**Basic Qualifications**

+ BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field or equivalent practical experience

+ 5+ years of developing software products with Java

+ Experience in programming with Scala or Java and proficient with one or more general purpose programming languages.

+ Experience with event-based architecture

+ Experience working with AWS and the cloud

+ Experience building distributed systems with event-driven architecture

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Experience with Terraform

+ Experience with AWS Lambda and Step functions

+ Experience developing with Scala

+ Experience with Agile and SCRUM

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA and in New York City, NY is $142.516 to $191,180 per year; the hiring range for this position in Santa Monica/Burbank/Glendale/L.A., California and in Bristol, Connecticut is $136,038 to $182,490; and the hiring range for this position in San Francisco, California is $148,994 to $199,870 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
