Strategic Growth Coordinator (Washington, D.C.)

Washington, DC, United States

This is a Full-Time Role (40 hours per week) with no option for part-time work. While this is a remote-first opportunity, the candidate filling this role must be a resident of Colorado, Pennsylvania, New York, or the District of Columbia at the start of employment. Additionally, they must be within commuting distance of our office in Denver, New York, Philadelphia, or Washington D.C. proper.

About the Opportunity

The Strategic Growth (SG) Department is charged with raising mission-aligned funding to support B Lab Global and B Lab U.S. & Canada, and where appropriate and aligned, discrete elements of Global Partners work as well. In a time of rapid growth for the B Corp movement, the Strategic Growth team is implementing a multi-year, multimillion dollar fundraising strategy designed to accelerate our fundraising efforts and grow our philanthropic pipeline. At B Lab Global, we use philanthropy to build products, tools, and standards ahead of the market and to support our movement building work (public policy, capacity building, narrative shift, evaluation and research). At B Lab U.S. & Canada, philanthropy is used to support and mobilize the B Corp community and advance three pillars of change: climate justice, racial equity, and stakeholder governance. Philanthropy enables B Lab to keep social impact at the center of our work to catalyze impact in the business world.

The SG team currently raises about $7 million annually (~20% of the consolidated budget for B Lab Global and B Lab U.S. & Canada) and we expect this to grow to $10 million/year. Earned revenue, through our certification and verification (C&V) of B Corps, makes up the majority of our income. As the movement grows, we anticipate that philanthropy will be used primarily to support our movement building work and earned income will cover the ongoing costs of verification and impact management. To date, B Lab’s primary sources of philanthropic funding have come from private foundations and individuals closely aligned with B Lab’s mission. We expect this trend to continue, and will prioritize securing unrestricted and loosely restricted funding wherever possible.

The Coordinator, Strategic Growth will play an integral role managing operations to support a growing and collaborative Strategic Growth team. This role will be responsible for optimizing team systems, processes, and ways of working; managing Salesforce and other platforms; and supporting various team projects and initiatives. The Coordinator will lead on some work streams and provide critical administrative and logistical support for others. The ideal candidate for this position will be a highly organized self-starter who approaches their work with a growth mindset and solutions orientation. They will be proficient in Salesforce and have working knowledge of Asana and other project management platforms and tools that drive efficiency for teams. We are looking for someone who has strong operational skills, is resourceful, and who enjoys fostering collaboration on teams and helping them work more effectively toward shared goals.

This role reports to the Director, Philanthropic Partnerships with a dotted line to the Head of External Affairs and Co-Lead Executive.
