The Johns Hopkins Department of Medicine seeks candidates for Director of the Division of Clinical Pharmacology. The DOM has multiple clinical locations including the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore and Howard County General Hospital, Sibley Memorial Hospital and Suburban Hospital in the greater Baltimore/DC metro area as well as outpatient clinic sites across the region . The Department of Medicine is the largest department in the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine with 1 8 divisions and over 3,000 faculty, nurses, st aff a nd trainees and is an integral part of Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions (JHMI), which is a partnership between the School of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH).

The Division of Clinical Pharmacology in the Department of Medicine at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is one of the oldest in the world and has a long history of laboratory and clinical research, teaching, and service activities. Areas of investigation range across the spectrum of pharmacology : identification of prom ising drug targets; preclinical studies of lead compounds; modeling of pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic relationships; pharmacogenetics and personalized medicine; studies of kinetics, meta bolism , s afety and efficacy of drugs in humans; rational use of drugs in clinical practice. We foster productive research collaborations across various departments within the School of Medicine, the School of Public Health, and the School of Arts and Sciences. Our facu lty p lay a pivotal role in the acclaimed Graduate Training Program in Clinical Investigation, the nation's first PhD program of its kind . The Division is composed of 15 faculty, 17 staff , with active research funding totaling over $15 M. The D ivision holds two endow ments , the Paul S. Lietman Endowed Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology and the Wellcome Professorship in Clinical Pharmacology (held by the Division Di rector). Throughout its histo ry, and b y means of its research and teaching missions, Clinical Pharmacology has shaped the future of pharmacological research and education and continues the tradition of bringing a molecular perspective to clinical investigation.

The Director is the spokesperson for the faculty of the Division. Responsibilities include promoting faculty; recruiting and appointing new faculty; overseeing educational, clinical and research programs; and planning short term and long - term strategic growth.

Qualifications Candidates must have a record consistent with appointment as an Associate or Full Professor of Medicine or equivalent departmen t. They must have an MD , PhD or equivalent, an outstanding record of accomplishments in teaching, research, and service, and be eligible for licensure in Maryland. Candidates are required to have board certification in Clinical Pharmacology or be in the process of obtaining it. The successful candidate needs to have the demonstrated capacity to foster an environment in which excellence in teaching, research and scholarship can flourish, as well as experience and interest in developing and leading clinical programs. Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in an academic environment is required . Successful candidates will have a record of innovative and effective administrative and fiscal leadership, national stature in academic internal medicine, a record of excellent interpersonal skills, and enjoy interactions with students, staff and faculty.
