Vast is looking for a Senior Mixed Signal Design Engineer Engineer , reporting to the SVP of Engineering, to support the development of hardware systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
“Responsible Engineer” for components that are critical to flying a human safe space station.
Design, analysis, modeling, simulation, and characterization of mixed-signal circuits.
Participate-in a multi-functional engineering team environment to develop and integrate hardware, software, and network technology for products and systems.
Establish product objectives, specifications and technical solutions to ensure products satisfy customer requirements and deliverables. Focusing on the electrical inputs and outputs required to sense and control a spacecraft.
Lean across interfaces and act as systems engineer to ensure the product you’re delivering to the space station meets the system needs.
Contribute to all aspects of the product life cycle (concept, development, integration, qualification, acceptance, delivery, and maintenance).
Work effectively across multiple corporate functions including business, engineering, operations, and manufacturing.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related engineering discipline
5+ years of experience with analog design, development, test, and verification
5+ years of experience working with a production facility to make sure hardware is manufacturable and reproducible
Experience designing analog-to-digital conversion PCBs
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
Experience with PCBA design and Altium or similar software
Previously qualified hardware for harsh environments (Space, Aircraft, Autonomous Vehicles, Military, etc.) with test campaigns including thermal, thermal vacuum, shock, vibration, and radiation
Comfortable communicating technical topics to a variety of audiences
Ability to creatively solve problems and weigh against multi-disciplinary requirements together while assessing risk and making design and development decisions
Experience with fault-tolerant avionics computing architectures
Understanding of electrical schematics and electronics manufacturing to analyze and improve test coverage
Hands-on experience with sizing, installing and troubleshooting various electronic components
Experience with wire harness design and build, including associated sub-components
Experience with NX or similar CAD software
Competence with electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, power supplies, etc.)
Creative problem solver that can bring multiple disciplines together with the ability to assess risk and make design and development decisions without all available data
Self-motivated with strong learning, multi-tasking, organizational, communication and documentation skills
Strong sense of accountability and integrity with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Pay Range:
Senior Avionics Engineer Level III: $150,000 - $180,000
Staff Avionics Engineer Level IV: $170,000 - $200,000
