Job Description Job Description Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities are to perform structural fitting functions with following objectives: Perform structural fitter assignments as assigned.
Work safe and maintain a safe working environment.
Notify foreman or supervisor of any safety and/or structural issues as warranted.
Duties: Duties include, but are not limited to: Lays out, positions, aligns and fits together fabricated structural steel plate according to customer specifications and direction from Foreman/Supervisor.
Required to move parts into position, manually, by hoist or crane, and align parts, using jacks, etc.
May be required to remove high spots and cut bevels, using hand files, portable grinders, and/or cutting torch, as well as give directions to the welder to build up low spots or short pieces.
May, at times, be required to tack weld, as necessary.
Consults with foreman or supervisor regarding installation or repair problems, sequence of operations, and time required to complete repair and/or installation
Attend safety meetings as required
Maintain a safe working environment
Education, Experience and Training: Minimum one year experience as a structural fitter (shipyard experience)
Be able to perform simple paperwork as required for filling out forms and logs.
Pay: $19.50 - $21.00 Must be available for day and/or night shift
