Overview

As a Lead Software Prototyping Engineer, you will work with cutting-edge technology and collaborate with UX/UI designers, Industrial Design, UX researcher, and SW team to help define the future of surgical robotic experiences.

We are seeking someone with eye for detail, a strong understanding of design principles, and high proficiency in programming across multiple languages and platforms. Your day-to-day will include building prototypes for software, 3D, and AR/VR experiences that allow users to interact with realistic digital proposals embedded on physical devices. Your prototypes will be used for user research evaluations, product visions and then eventually be packaged and integrated into our robotic platforms for implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with designers and UX researchers to understand their vision and bring it to life through prototyping

Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of prototypes into final designs

Craft visions and concepts in code for a variety of mediums (GUI Application, 3D Graphics, AR/VR) and modalities (touchscreen, voice, gesture, sensors etc)

Conceptualize and build realistic prototypes for user testing and evaluation, including instrumentation or other interaction measurement features

Maintain a high level of quality and consistency in all prototypes

Act as a mentor and resource for junior developers and prototypers, providing guidance and support

Embrace a collaborative and team-oriented work culture to achieve project goals

Qualifications

Education

Required:

Bachelor's or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction or other related field

Preferred:

Masters or other higher level degrees are a plus and will be considered as part of the applicant's professional experience

Experience and Skills:

Required:

At least 10 years of experience prototyping and developing for highly sophisticated systems (or Masters plus 8 years)

High skill level in C and Python

Familiarity with developing proof of concept prototypes in software that connect to hardware or devices

Creative problem solver who experiments and iterates to achieve desired system behavior

Experience advising design and program leadership on how to accomplish technological aspirations

Experience with the deploying software to hardware

Preferred:

Experience with GUI development in Qt/QML

Experience with additional languages incl. HTLM, CSS, C, C#, JavaScript

Proficiency with Unity, Unreal, or similar 3D engines

Familiarity with Arduino and various sensors

Other:

This position is based in Santa Clara, CA and requires the ability to travel up to 10%, international and domestic

The anticipated base pay range for this position is [$122,500] to [$211,400].

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
