JOB SUMMARY
A Google Cloud IAM (Identity and Access Management) Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the access control and security policies within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments. Their primary focus is on ensuring that the right individuals and services have the appropriate level of access to GCP resources while maintaining the security and compliance of the organization. The specific job description may vary depending on the organization, but here are some common responsibilities and qualifications for a Google Cloud IAM Architect:
1. Designing IAM Solutions: Develop and implement IAM strategies and solutions for GCP environments, considering the organization's security, compliance, and business needs.
2. Access Control: Define and manage access control policies, roles, and permissions for GCP resources to ensure that users and services have the appropriate level of access.
3. Security Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies by implementing security best practices and conducting regular audits.
4. IAM Governance: Establish IAM governance and policies, including access request and approval processes, and monitor compliance with established policies.
5. Identity Management: Manage user identities and roles, including integration with identity providers and single sign-on (SSO) solutions.
6. Access Review: Conduct periodic access reviews to verify and recertify user and service access, ensuring that access remains appropriate and necessary.
7. Security Monitoring: Implement and manage security monitoring tools and processes to detect and respond to suspicious or unauthorized access.
8. Incident Response: Develop and maintain an incident response plan to address security incidents and breaches, including access-related incidents.
9. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, security, and compliance, to align IAM policies with the overall organizational goals.
10. Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for IAM policies, procedures, and standards, as well as audit reports and documentation for compliance purposes.
11. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on GCP IAM features and industry best practices to continuously improve IAM solutions and security posture.
