As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the deriving, building out of and supporting Skipify’s core product offering.

What you’ll do

We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our team at Skipify. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining our cloud-based fintech platform, ensuring it is robust, scalable, and secure. If you have a passion for fintech, strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and expertise in technologies such as Terraform, Node.js, and Golang, we'd love to hear from you. Additionally, you will provide mentorship to engineers and contribute to the strategic development of our product offering.

Key Responsibilities

Help lead the design, development, and maintenance of backend services and microservices that power our fintech applications.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and product managers, to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Build and manage cloud-based infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to support our applications.

Implement best practices for scalability, performance, and security.

Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, adhering to coding standards and best practices.

Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality and knowledge sharing.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner.

Act as a mentor and provide expert guidance to more junior engineering team members.

Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in fintech and backend development.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (relevant work experience may be considered).

8+ years of relevant professional work experience in DevOps and infrastructure

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Strong experience in backend development with a focus on cloud-based fintech solutions.

Expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and technologies.

Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform) for managing cloud resources.

Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Node.js, Golang.

Knowledge of microservices architecture and best practices.

Experience with database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and data modeling.

Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment is a plus.

A history of leading projects and mentoring junior team members in the financial services context.

Salary range for this role is $150,000 - $190,000/yr USD. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors unique to each candidate including but not limited to, skillset, depth of experience, certifications, and work locations. The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus, stock, benefits, and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
