Civil Project Engineer

Our client is seeking qualified applicants for a Senior Engineer/Project Manager position at its Groveport, OH office. The primary focus of this position is to design, draft, manage, and lead engineering projects for the company’s diverse client base. The selected candidate will work closely with Associate Engineers, Project Engineers, Engineering Manager, surveyors, GIS technicians, and operations personnel for collaborative projects. Design projects will include all aspects of transmission, distribution, and gathering pipelines and their facilities. This position will assist the Director of Engineering and Engineering Manager in leading and mentoring UTI’s engineering staff to oversee and develop the group.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Work in multi-discipline, collaborative team environments
Work alongside engineers, designers, surveyors, environmental scientists, GIS professionals, operations personnel, technicians, etc.
Expand your skillset by participating in tasks outside of your role as needed
Manage multiple projects from start to finish – be involved in the initial project conception all the way through to construction and commissioning
Learn an entire industry, its codes and compliance, best practices, and construction methods
Network and collaborate with hundreds of individuals across the natural gas industry, from operators to vendors to contractors
Enjoy working within a small, agile team of professionals in a fast-paced but supportive environment
RESPONSIBILITIES
Pipeline routing, material specification, alignment sheet generation
Meter, regulation, compressor, pigging facility design, material/equipment specification, drafting
Plan and procedure development, document review
Cathodic protection design (ICCP and galvanic anode)
Pipe system modeling and sizing
FEED studies and cost estimating
Completion and as-built reports
Project and construction management, including client/contractor interfacing, stakeholder coordination, cost tracking, scheduling, etc.
Material, fabrication, and equipment procurement
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in an engineering field from an ABET-accredited college or university
Professional Engineering (PE) license in Ohio, or a goal to obtain it in the next 1-2 years
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, Access, etc.)
Proficiency in Autodesk suites (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Plant 3D, etc.)
Outstanding attention to detail
Desire to take initiative and lead projects
Advanced mathematical, scientific, and analytical abilities
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English language)
Ability to learn new skills and complete tasks independently with little to no oversight
Capability to handle multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines simultaneously without compromising quality of work
Skill to prepare documents, retain and organize records, analyze and summarize raw data to compile and submit various reports
Analyze situations, make decisions, act, and inform supervisors of exceptions to the standard processes
Excellent organizational skills and experience in managing and maintaining a project schedule and budget
Availability to occasionally conduct field work in Ohio and surrounding states (fieldwork may require occasional overnight stays)
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Discretion when dealing with confidential information
Good record of safe work practices
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years’ experience related field/role
Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field
Natural gas pipeline experience
$$120,000 to $$140,000 per year annual salary.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
