About the Team: The Global Legal team provides legal advice and guidance to OKX and its affiliated entities across all coverage areas and geographic locations, and supports business growth by working with all teams within the company to help them achieve their goals. About the Opportunity: As an Associate General Counsel in the Litigation and Regulatory Practice Group, you will report to the Head of the practice group (who is based in San Jose), and work closely with all members of the Global Legal team and business leaders throughout the company. You will be working from either our San Francisco, San Jose or New York City office three days a week. You may work remotely two days a week. The company’s General Counsel is based in San Francisco.

The right candidate will have a basic understanding of and enthusiastic belief in the cryptocurrency/digital asset space, 5+ years of relevant litigation and regulatory experience at a top law firm or in-house at a fast-paced, brand-name business, and possess strong academic credentials and excellent writing and analytical skills. The ideal candidate possesses experience working on matters in financial services, cryptocurrency/digital assets, financial services regulation and securities laws.

What You’ll Be Doing: Managing litigation and U.S. and global regulatory matters, and supervising outside counsel retained to represent the company in those matters;

To the extent needed, supporting the business in virtually all legal coverage areas, including product development, global regulatory matters, IP and trademark enforcement, corporate governance, contract negotiation, litigations and arbitrations, compliance legal support, institutional sales and partnerships and marketing/advertising;

Analyzing and advising on the legal risk of new and existing digital assets and managing the legal component of the new asset review process;

Working with the compliance team in obtaining licenses around the world (including assisting with fact finding during the license selection process), communicating with regulators, responding to inquiries, and drafting and maintaining internal policies;

Collaborating with product and business development teams to achieve company-wide projects and goals; and

Managing legal requests from all areas of the business and effectively advising on legal concepts and legal risk with an eye towards the strategic goals of business leaders.

What We Look For In You: Active membership with a state bar (CA or NY preferred) or eligible to practice in California as a registered in-house counsel;

Resident of the San Francisco Bay Area or greater New York City area;

5+ years of litigation and regulatory experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team, preferably in a financial services or crypto industry;

Experience advising on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology legal issues (or strong interest and knowledge in the field) and have a basic understanding about the relevant legal and regulatory landscape;

Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage and multi-cultural environment;

Ability to effectively advise and build trust with business teams;

Ability to navigate through a rapidly-changing legal landscape and deal with legal ambiguity;

Ability to work in a high-functioning legal team and feel comfortable in a collaborative working environment;

Nice to Haves: Experience working on cross-jurisdictional matters and a global legal team;

Experience working on financial services regulatory matters in the United States (FINRA, state securities regulators, SEC, CFTC).

The salary range for this position is $140,000 to $228,000. The salary offered depends on a variety of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. In addition to the salary, a performance bonus and long-term incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, as well as a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
