This Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Lead Environmental Engineer to join our Earth & Environment, Site Investigation and Remediation team in our Portland, OR or Redmond, WA offices. WSP’s Site Investigation and Remediation team offers environmental remediation and related services to a diverse set of clients, including industrial/commercial companies, local and state agencies, and the federal government. Project locations are local, regional, and nationwide. We have in-house experts in chemistry, risk assessment, data management, graphics/GIS, engineering, and industrial hygiene who support projects in the Pacific Northwest and many other locations, and have access to subject matter experts worldwide. The position requires a self-motivated candidate able to work as part of local, regional, or national project teams.

Your Impact

Solve problems and document solutions.

Express ideas through strong technical writing and verbal communication.

Support technical reports, plans, and calculations in a consulting environment.

Work on a variety of multi-disciplinary projects, with substantial emphasis on soil, soil vapor/gas, groundwater, surface water, stormwater investigations and remediation systems, chemical fate and transport assessment, hazardous waste management, permitting, and site planning.

Member or leader of teams providing environmental consulting services to commercial and government clients.

Perform complex technical tasks under oversight of more experienced technical reviewers/directors as appropriate.

Possess knowledge and technical skills in Federal, Oregon and Washington regulations.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

B.S. or higher in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline

Minimum 7 years of post-education environmental consulting experience

Professional registration in Oregon or Washington (preferably both)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Consistent and highly accurate project work

Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills

Comfortable working within both small and large project teams to achieve objectives

Ability to work in industrial and field environments as well as in the office

Flexible to work outside of business hours, when necessary

Proficiency with MS Office: Excel, Word, and Outlook, in particular

Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
