Description: The Assistant Athletic Director reports to the Director of Athletics and is part of an interscholastic athletics program for grades 6-12 that includes 19 varsity teams, most of which have both sub-varsity and middle-school counterparts. The Assistant Athletic Director will provide leadership, programmatic vision, strategic planning, administrative support, and day-to-day management for a growing athletic program.
Reports To : Director of Athletics
Required Qualifications:
Experience in a school environment or athletic related field.
Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated techological proficiency (Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite).
Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual in English and one of the school’s primary languages, French or Spanish.
Head coaching experience.
Assistant Athletic Director Duties: Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, oversee the day-to-day functions of the athletic department in collaboration with the Athletics Assistant and Athletic Trainers.
Support the Director of Athletics in working through complex and significant issues, especially when the director is unavailable.
Prepare fields, gyms and courts for athletic events, including set up and break down.
Train and manage all game day support personnel, including but not limited to scoreboard operators, scorekeepers, shot clock operators, statisticians, camera operators, team managers.
Assist with site management for all home contests.
Support multi-sport participation for student-athletes.
Assist the Athletic Director in hiring new coaches; provide professional support and professional development for coaches and department members; assist with observations and evaluations of athletic coaches.
Oversee the utilization, maintenance, and training for all athletic related technology including but not limited to Daktronics, Hudl, GameTime, TouchPros.
In conjunction with the Athletic Director, serve as support and liaison to the Awty Rams Athletic Booster Club and attend meetings as directed.
Assist the Athletics Assistant and coaches in the scheduling and organization of games and events and the development of practice schedules.
Develop, schedule, and oversee athletic camps and clinics during school year and summer breaks.
Manage Awty’s athletic equipment and uniform inventory and arrange for the repair and reconditioning of uniforms and equipment as needed. Maintain athletic storage spaces.
Coordinate team photography and media days on a seasonal basis.
Compile records, statistics, team data and archives for each team.
Insure athletic trophies, plaques and banners are kept up to date.
Assist in the execution of seasonal sport banquets, special athletic events, assemblies, etc.
Attend Awty athletics events off-campus when necessary, helping to ensure a consistent and dependable administrative presence.
Contribute to the school community at large in areas such as special projects, assemblies, field trips and service learning activities, in addition to curriculum nights, open houses, prospective parent meetings, and other school and parent events.
Represent the athletic department and school at meetings, conferences, and events as needed.
Coach a team or teach a section of Physical Education as needed.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
