Our Engineering team is reimagining small business banking for the digital age, leveraging cutting-edge data science and machine learning to automate decisions, enhance fraud detection, and unearth deep insights that drive efficiency and security.
The Role and Impact:
As a Machine Learning Engineer at Bluevine, you’ll be at the forefront of fintech innovation. You’ll also be the Tech Lead of the team, architecting and refining scalable data pipelines and ML infrastructure that propel us ahead of the curve and set new industry standards.

What You’ll Do:
Lead and Innovate: As a tech lead within the team, you'll spearhead the design, implementation, and integration of new components within Bluevine’s Machine Learning platform, leveraging the power of AWS infrastructure. Your role will be pivotal in utilizing Big Data technologies to elevate our financial services, setting new standards in the industry.
Develop Data Solutions: Support Bluevine’s business and research teams by designing and developing data-centric infrastructure tools. Your work will facilitate and enhance both real-time and offline processes, providing first-in-class data solutions for the financial sector.
Enhance ML Capabilities: Design and implement advanced ML workloads with a focus on modern, efficient Big Data technologies. You'll be responsible for developing end-to-end data pipelines, from data collection through to data validation and transformation, ensuring data is accessible to stakeholders and processes.
Collaborate and Guide: Work closely with Bluevine’s Data Science and Data Analytics teams, as well as with Bluevine’s R&D teams, to incorporate industry best practices, define and enforce data governance procedures, and monitor system performance. Your role will not only involve technical leadership but also cross-functional collaboration to drive the company’s data strategy forward.
Mentorship: Serve as a mentor to less experienced team members, guiding them in their professional development. Your expertise will make you a source of knowledge and inspiration within the team, helping to nurture the next generation of tech talent at Bluevine.
Lead by Example: Your leadership will include hands-on development work, showcasing your technical skills, and setting a high standard for code quality, innovation, and problem-solving. Your ability to lead projects, make strategic decisions, and mentor others will be key to our team's success.
What we look for:
8+ years of experience in machine learning engineering and or big data development
Excellent coding skills in Python
Familiarity with ML technologies
Proficiency in the AWS ecosystem, especially SageMaker, and familiarity with Big Data frameworks like Flink, Spark, or Hadoop.
Exceptional communication skills and a talent for breaking down complex concepts across diverse teams.
Ability to quickly and independently learn new technologies, frameworks, and algorithms.
Collaborative team member who excels in a dynamic environment where priorities shift quickly.
An autonomous learner with a knack for quickly mastering new technologies.
A proactive, creative problem-solver who's adept at juggling multiple tasks and meeting tight deadlines.
Bonus points if you also have:
BSc/BA in Computer Science or related field
Experience with container technologies (e.g. Docker, K8s)
Experience with streaming and real-time analytics systems
Experience with Python Data/ML libraries (e.g. Pandas, Numpy, Scikit Learn)
