We are seeking experienced design engineers to join our team! As a Senior Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include designing and analyzing aerospace structures and leading teams of junior engineers. This role encompasses all phases of a program, including concept design, prototyping, detailed analysis, modeling, drafting, manufacturing, testing, and flight. You will frequently utilize CAD and Finite Element Analysis software to bring conceptual ideas into reality. Proficiency in multiple CAD packages (Catia, Inventor, NX, SolidWorks) is essential. You will be responsible for quickly developing CAD and/or prototype models and delivering high-quality results to clients. Collaboration with program management, analysis, procurement, and manufacturing teams will be essential. Strong presentation and communication skills are crucial for success in this position.
Duties: Designing primary and secondary aerospace structures and systems
Creating and presenting CAD models and presentations to clients
Communicating across various engineering disciplines to make critical program decisions
Identifying core issues, developing solutions, and effectively communicating the impacts to internal and external teams
Leading, mentoring, and collaborating with other engineers, both internally and externally
Managing schedules and tasks to meet and exceed expectations
Developing supporting materials for design, such as bill of materials, assembly or installation procedures, and weight optimization trades
Providing support and collaboration to program management, analysis, procurement, and manufacturing teams
Requirements 7-15 years of relevant experience
B.S. in mechanical or aerospace engineering (or equivalent education/work experience)
Moderate travel
Must be a US citizen or permanent resident eligible to obtain a security clearance
Qualifications Demonstrated experience in designing composite and metallic parts and assemblies
Experience in systems design, such as flight controls, landing gear, hydraulic systems, etc.
Proficiency in multiple CAD programs such as Catia or Solidworks
Familiarity with analysis packages such as FEMAP and NASTRAN (or equivalent)
Significant experience in drafting parts, assemblies, and installation drawings using GD&T (ASME Y14.5) best practices
Working knowledge of aerospace materials, hardware, and fabrication techniques
Rapid prototyping experience
Familiarity with fabrication, inspection, and repair of composites and metallic parts and assemblies
Experience with design lifecycle and configuration management systems
Hands-on experience with machining and composite layup
Development of test plans and experience in structural testing
Strong team building and collaboration skills; ability to work across all disciplines to solve complex engineering problems
