Position Duties and Responsibilities:
The HCW shall provide services within the scope of their competencies and the applicable duties provided in the basic contract.
Utilize pharmacy computer and robotic systems in accordance with MTF protocols.
Performs administrative requirements for clinical pharmacists including managing appointment scheduling, to include rescheduling of cancelled and no-show appointments per DHA and MTF policies; managing consults generated by provider staff to ensure they are assigned to a clinical pharmacist.
Assists clinical pharmacists in clinic duties as assigned, including patient and health care professional contact, entry of information into patient databases, facilitate TRICARE prior authorization and medical necessity submissions, chart review, laboratory collection and analysis, dispense drug information. Exercises tact when dealing with professional staff and patients, using appropriate language. Answers routine inquiries from physicians, nurses and other staff on formulary status and availability of medications.
The HCWs shall be responsible for the quality and timeliness of records, encounter closures within 72 hours, reports, and documentation of services provided. Document and communicate all information as appropriate including pain patient agreements, pharmacotherapeutic treatment findings and recommendations.
Assists in the preparation of appealing educational materials for patients and health care professionals by using a variety of computer programs, selecting the most appropriate type, to complete projects assigned. Corrects grammar, spelling, and punctuation, referring questions regarding content to originator.
Assists clinical pharmacists in data collection for Drug Use Evaluations, research projects, or required metrics as assigned. Uses knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory analyses, and computer skills for the collection and entry of analysis of data performed by the clinical pharmacists. Uses knowledge of computer programs for the creation of data collection forms, entry of data into database from clinical pharmacists evaluation and analysis of data for the preparation of reports. Assists in the retrieval of medical records for review as necessary for task(s) assigned. Applies knowledge of the functional capabilities of different software types to select the most appropriate software for each project/report. Assists in preparation and presentation of reports using word and data processing and graphics software.
Customer Service Accountability – Contract employees providing services at NH Jacksonville and supporting facilities shall adhere to the Customer Service standards specified in NAVHOSPJAXINST 6320.7H or updated versions. A copy of the instruction will be made available upon request or at the time of commencement of services.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduate from a formal pharmacy technician program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or a formal pharmacy technician program (i.e., technical, hospital, or retail-based program) or a formal medical services training program of the United States Military.
Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
Possess a minimum of 12-months of experience within the preceding 36-months as a Pharmacy Technician.
Must be a US Citizen.
