About Zscaler

Zscaler (NASDAQ: ZS) accelerates digital transformation so that customers can be more agile, efficient, resilient, and secure. The Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange is the company’s cloud-native platform that protects thousands of customers from cyberattacks and data loss by securely connecting users, devices, and applications in any location.

With more than 10 years of experience developing, operating, and scaling the cloud, Zscaler serves thousands of enterprise customers around the world, including 450 of the Forbes Global 2000 organizations. In addition to protecting customers from damaging threats, such as ransomware and data exfiltration, it helps them slash costs, reduce complexity, and improve the user experience by eliminating stacks of latency-creating gateway appliances.

Zscaler was founded in 2007 with a mission to make the cloud a safe place to do business and a more enjoyable experience for enterprise users. Zscaler’s purpose-built security platform puts a company’s defenses and controls where the connections occur—the internet—so that every connection is fast and secure, no matter how or where users connect or where their applications and workloads reside.

Zscaler is seeking an experienced and highly motivated  Staff Software Engineer  of  API and Cloud Platform  to join our team.  This Unified API platform will offer a world class  developer experience and power all ZScaler current and new products for high availability and scalability.  The Staff Engineer in this space will develop a deep understanding of ZScaler’s current suite of products (ZIA, ZPA etc) in-order to build a new unified API platform to meet the needs of ZScaler current and future products. This role requires the understanding of large scale distributed systems and the enablement of developers with APIs and SDKs.

The Staff Engineer will establish the strategy and execution plan to achieve convergence of current as well as new ZScaler products on top of the new unified API platform and gracefully manage the transition of customers to the new implementations by striking the right balance between feature velocity and not blocking business launches yet also avoiding accrual of technical debt and throwaway work.

The ideal candidate will lead the development and delivery of a suite of public and private API’s across the organization. To do this effectively requires setting a strategy that provides value in both the near and long-term, and aligning VP and SVP level stakeholders on the vision and plan. The Staff Engineer must possess a broad and deep understanding of the network security, embedded/hardware security, cryptography, web and network protocols. The Staff Engineer will be responsible for mentoring and guiding a high-performance and diverse engineering team while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

Responsibilities:

Design and develop a language-agnostic framework to build a family of best in class APIs to serve both external and internal developers.

Leads a cross-functional team of engineers in delivering a first of its kind data/api platform for all of ZScaler products, both current and future.

Ensure that the teams within the ZScaler platform and product teams are aligned to a coherent technical vision and deliver systems that fit well together.

Develop process and tooling for the API definition and development across the ZScaler family of products.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators, and vendors.

Responsible for reviewing and guiding the team on scalable and highly secure architecture that meets current and future business needs.

Works closely with peers, delivery managers and team on process standardization and innovation.

A detail-oriented and highly organized person with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and parallel projects
