The Tax Manager will have the responsibility for overseeing tax-related compliance, research, and special projects across various tax areas. Furthermore, they will directly supervise one to two interns and indirectly manage a total of three to four staff members. The Tax Manager's responsibilities include:
1. Supervising and assessing the work of staff members, which includes tax returns, extensions, tax planning calculations, and write-up tasks for all types of entities, with a specific focus on individual tax matters.
2. Reviewing compiled financial statements for corporations, non-profit organizations, partnerships, and individuals, including a thorough examination of workpapers, accounting entries, bank reconciliations, and client records.
3. Developing and evaluating complex tax planning projections for both individual and corporate estimated tax obligations.
4. Overseeing and monitoring client deliverables and deadlines.
5. Preparing or reviewing intricate U.S. and state individual income, gift tax, and estate tax returns.
6. Conducting in-depth tax research and creating memos summarizing research findings and conclusions.
7. Handling IRS and state agency audits, inquiries, and tax notifications, as well as coordinating with both the IRS and clients throughout these processes.
8. Engaging in direct communication with current clients, colleagues, management, and IRS representatives on various tax-related matters.
9. Providing guidance on the department's expertise in software utilization, processes, and workflows.
Requirements for this position include:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in individual tax compliance and planning (experience with CS Suite and UltraTax is a plus).
- Experience in conducting tax research using RIA.
- Knowledge of gift, estate, and trust tax returns would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with partnership tax is a positive attribute.
- Demonstrating an outgoing and friendly personality while working effectively as part of a team.
- A forward-thinking approach, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement, learning, and personal development.
- A desire and the ability to train, mentor, lead, and support staff members.
