Sr. Indirect Tax Analyst

About the role
We are looking for a senior indirect tax analyst to scale with our international expansion, manage indirect tax compliance and reporting, and contribute to the overall indirect tax strategy and planning. You’ll be responsible for indirect tax matters, providing guidance to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations and staying current on changes in the tax landscape. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with indirect tax reporting, compliance filings and audits. The ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment is critical. The senior indirect tax analyst will report to the Director of Tax and collaborate cross functionally on business initiatives with indirect tax considerations.
How you'll make an impact
Prepare and/or review US and international indirect tax compliance filings, including VAT, GST, HST, sales and use tax, gross receipts-based taxes, franchise tax, and other miscellaneous taxes, ensuring accuracy and managing deadlines
Prepare month end indirect tax accruals and perform monthly reconciliations of indirect tax general ledger accounts, including consideration of tax filings and payments
Investigate, track and resolve tax notices and letters from tax authorities
Support and resolve indirect tax audits, including preparation of responses and documentation
Draft technical memorandum of indirect tax implications related to new legislation, guidance and company initiatives
Take ownership of staying current on indirect tax legislation and industry trends
Identify and assist in development of efficient indirect tax compliance processes and improvement, including automation and implementation of procedural changes and/or processes
Manage indirect tax questions that arise from customers or vendors
Responsible for exemption certificate maintenance process relating to vendors and customers
Manage SOX documentation related to indirect taxes and partner with internal audit
What we’re looking for (aka qualifications & key attributes)
Bachelor's degree in accounting; master's degree in tax is a plus
3 to 5+ years of experience working at a public accounting firm and/or corporation (Big 4 and/or SAAS technology company preferred)
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in indirect tax is required
Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities, adapt quickly, and problem solve in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with Avalara, Vertex and Netsuite is a plus
